Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Music for 18 Apps

Actually there were 27 but that would have ruined the reference.
Another one that’s been on the back burner for a while and has gone through a number of iterations until this popped out. Not in the same universe as Steve Reich’s mid 1970s minimalist classic but it made me happy 😊

  • A rare bump from me but I thought it was worth a punt 😊

  • @GeoTony Damn right it’s worth a punt - what a wonderful, coherent composition. I can only imagine the work that went into this epic. Great stuff

  • @GeoTony, like the way the different themes are introduced and intercalated to great effect. Nice work!

  • Many thanks @BillS and @azul3D_Apps . It took a bit of brain power to work out how to sequence everything in AUM. Also watching a few videos on the techniques Steve Reich used. The piano motifs theme that starts to come in about half way through has 4 SWAM strings staggered by 4 bars.then 3, 2, 1 and then played in unison , all of which was achievable using PM functionality. Just listened to it again in the car on the way to Wales and I was pretty happy with it 🙂

  • Quite a feat keeping all this apps under control, @GeoTony ! But you did a great job and well worth the end result!

  • Impressed with anyone doing something complicated in AUM without automation, but this is next level stuff. Excellent! :)

  • Cheers Colin and Irena ( @AlterEgo_UK , @Svetlovska )
It’s sort of manually automated (is there such a thing) in as much as the initial jingly jangly bit had the instruments being brought in (un bypassed) using StepBud. It’s a bit clunky but I’ve done it many times now it seems easy. The Piano Motifs sections were recorded separately and then I used the beat offset in multiple file players to bring them in at the right time. The double speed section was recorded separately and then faded in and out manually.

  • This one starts to get really compelling about a third of the way in. Very enjoyable stuff.

  • Beautiful composition! I can’t imagine how you kept it so organized. It’s like a fine Swiss watch. I was hoping for a GeoShred guitar solo in the distance. Great work (or play, if you prefer).

  • Wow how did I miss this? Sounds great! Had it playing while I did dishes and I felt like I was in a movie looking out my window 🪟 great work! I won’t ask you to list all the apps 😂 but I love percussion that comes in around 8:30

  • Thanks @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr , glad you made it through the first third 😊
No GeoShred was harmed in the making of this @Paulieworld .
Full apps listed in the SoundCloud description @HotStrange . I think the percussion is a couple of Shakers from the BeatHawk Classical Percussion pack. Lots of useful rattly things in it.

Awesome I’ll check that out! I only have the classic machines and musical toys IAPs but I love both of them. I’ve been eying that classical percussion set too. Might have to finally cave and buy it
