Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

128gb vs 256gb

edited July 2023 in Support and Feedback

Beatcutter stems. Maybe kept as a stem. Maybe not.

The samples for the beatcutter.

Koala samples.

Am ipad just for this ( probably no midi control )

So likely just a sampler.

128gb vs 256gb storage?

  • I have 256gb iPad Pro
Thought that I would be plugging in a hard drive also but never needed to, but go with what you can afford, make the decision and go with it

    Thanks.

    Its a 3rd ipad. 2 x 256gb's

but its a sampler ipad as described.

    It will be £170 difference.

    Ipad 8 vs ipad 9.

I have all my gbs spare and from 2019 ( start of ios music making )

The effects on samples might be automated also. So maybe not even as many duplicates.

Not every track will have samples ( which will start by being made when song is made )

  • 128 should be sufficient I think. I mean - thats got to be many hours worth end to end surely.

Resale price is also same as ipad 9 256gb ( about £300 )

    If sold now.

Seems silly spending £500 just to make, store and trigger some samples.

Were thinking to buy an ipad air 5 to compliment the other ipads.

When you add another dynamic. Like voice. The apps etc. You think you are wasting a synths worth of cpu

but an air 5 compared to an ipad 9. Although probably differnent.

When I bought the ipad 9 and compared to an air 3.

In aum you might see less than 10% dsp for the 400 difference singlecore score.

You might see 15-20 % from an air 5 to ipad 9.

Which covers the additional voice dynamic.

    But not worth the cost.

Especially now with an ipad 8 purchase to complete system.

£300 vs £500 vs £800 to complete system.

When the £300 should complete system.

I guess I were thinking to have any app, synth, effect combo loaded as templates.

How can you think you dont have enough cpu. With x3 modern ipads at 1024 samples?

  • Thanks for replies.

  • As a rule, I typically buy as much as I can. Kryder’s Law. If you can’t afford to max out, I would buy the smallest version and external drive.

Might just buy the 256gb anyway.

The 128gb would be an apple refurb. Although the ipad 9. With issue would be the same process.

My last glitchy ipad. I had a call arranged and they didnt even bother to call lol.

I guess I can tell myself 3 x ipad 9. Will have a paranormal link.

Where they know they are the same.

    No slackers.

    Dunno.

128gb is enough for beatcutter samples etc?

    On just a sample ipad?

£170 can buy more materialistic things. Apps. Games.

Its just the un-symmetry of the ipads is annoying.

  • I flicked a coin.

    The 128gb won.

    but will buy the 256gb.

    As its for Beatcutter sessions.

  • I think 'Content' is going to be very important as Logic moves along. I want enough space for lots of content... 256gb Air 5 is my next iPad.

The ipad will be good for logic.

    Invested in 3 ipads though.

You making me think to buy a better ipad than the ipad 9.

Does anybody here think they would use an air 5 and x 2 ipad 9? Outside of multicore daws ?

I cant see how an ipad with vocals and any synths and effects. Would need more than an ipad 9.

    Maybe wait till sept/oct.

Theres things about the air 5 I didnt like reading.

    Like flimsy design.

Ipad uses an apple pencil case to gain tilt.

One definite case where bigger is better. Once you start loading apps, saving projects, images, emails, audio samples, loops, presets, pdfs, notes, etc… it fills up real fast.

In such case: consider Apple Refurb 3rd gen 11”Pro (if available in your country).
    Better specs for lower price.

  • I have a 256gb iPad Air (2022) and it’s still not quite enough. I’m upgrading to the 1tb pro next month though as I’m close to maxing out space between apps, samples, loops, finished and WIP tracks, etc.

If you lived in UK. Maybe I would have bought your ipad. As the ipad 9 will be another £500. At this point im thinking to maybe save for the air. Even to use modular with 2 x ipad 9. Or if I switch to a daw.

    Decision made. Ipad 9 ( 256 gb )

    No switching to logic.

Will the iPad 9 not support Logic? I definitely woulda sold to you if I wasn’t all the way across the pond 😂

I will say, I love my Air. It’s the 2022 one with an M1 chip and I have no issues with it. If it had more storage I wouldn’t even consider upgrading for another 2-4 years at least. For the price it might be the best all around iPad for general use.

Yeah but would have thought an air would be better. Iv got to make a modular setup now.

I remember you saying your ipad were ok.

Hence offer to buy but wouldnt buy and sell from over seas.

Gotcha, same here. The Air is really great but I use too many samples to have limited storage.
