I wish I had sold my Push 2 last month when I thought about it. I wonder if there are any hardware improvements from Push 2 to Push 3 if you don't go for the standalone version?

Has the Push 2 got MPE?

No, but it has poly aftertouch.

I expect too someone will work out how to diy upgrade, which could be interesting :)
In fact, lets hope Push 4 is even more modular, that's the future I think.

Keep in mind if you upgrade anything without purchasing it from Ableton you will void your warranty.

Looking at today's date, someone in their marketing department is going to be fired 😂

Really? Seeing as the Push 3 pretty much dropped without warning (and after Apple had loudly proclaimed Logic's drop date), this feels absolutely intentional. And I have to say it worked on me. I've been intrigued about shifting from Ableton to Logic, or at least incorporating Logic into an Ableton workflow, because of Logic on iPad. I mean, I've been pricing new iPads for the past couple of weeks. But this definitely alters the calculus.

I'd say Ableton stole a lot of Apple's thunder here.

Yes, but I'm sure that won't stop some people :)

  • I think it has the same shitty buttons (on the left Push3 , on the right Push2)

Push 2 second-hand market is exploding, 8 just popped up today in a Dutch marketplace. I'll just stick with my push one cause I'm not using my laptop enough. Drambo is more fun for me

    Same in Spain

    I'd agree.

I'd earmarked cash for an iPad upgrade for Logic. That's now not looking quite so sure, as I prefer Ableton anyway. All it needs for Apple to do now is bring in subs for the desktop version and it's bye-bye Logic.

  • If I can flip my MPC X, I’ll probably buy one of these!

I want to know how good is the audio interface? What level quality we getting here, and I guess that part can’t be upgraded?

I stopped using my 2 as the plastic casing is all tacky/sticky from decomposing. I wonder if there's a resell market for these older ones or if Ableton will take it.

The price Ableon offered for upgrading Push1 to Push2 was very low ,30% discount, most people prefered selling on the second hand market
But worth mentioning that Ableton offered the refurbished Push1 units to educational :)

    I'm agree.

Right now, there are two major DAW's. Logic Pro and Ableton.

Both show us today different approaches to standalone DAW

    Ableton with Push 3
    LP with iPad.

  • Tempting, but disappointing that the arrangement view still isn't supported.

I'm also wondering if I need this anymore or I should just get a 2nd OXI One :)

I bought a sticky v1 for £100. I took it apart and cleaned it down to plastic with a solvent. It came out well but I don’t use Ableton so sold it on. Same thing happens with Keith McMillen gear. Such a terrible design choice.

Funny you should say that. I just opened my eBay uk app and the first three listings were all for push. Lord!!!

  • Yes I think Ableton cleverly upstaged and photobombed Apple's party today quite smartly, and also schooled them on marketing, better to drop out of nowhere. Release hype is so annoying anyway.

  • It’s almost like the Akai Force. Except that is half the price…

  • Audio interface cannot be upgraded, quality is great though.

Happily not being used on Push 3, that sticky mess was definitely annoying.

Ah great, that was one of the things putting me off the Push 2.

  • Don’t quote me on this, but I had heard that some of the more recent Push 2 units no longer used the sticky coating either. I haven’t been able to confirm though.

I don't think audio interface can be upgraded , but the adat offers flexibility , as an example you can add 8 mic channels with a Behringer ADA8200 Ultragain and 8 additional line-outs

Yes I used that program because of convenience and because they donated the units.

  • My Push 2 isn't sticky (yet) so hopefully it is one of the non-sticky ones...

  • This new Push standalone makes me want to sell my MPC and Maschine to subsidize the cost 😂

  • ADAT, ok nice so we can still add own converters if wanted

Looking at this launchpad pro I have like “ girl we might have to break up”

I want a push Keys version dammitt lol :p

Just want to point out that when I tried to buy a Push 2 with Suite 11 during the Ableton sale this winter, I found it weird that it was "sold out." And when I said, "It sure sounds like they're clearing back stock for a Push 3," everybody shouted me down and said, "That's been the rumor for years!"

So I just wanted you to know that I keep a journal where I'm correct*, and I made a new entry today.
In the words of Laurie Anderson: "Oh, boy. Right again."
    :)

*It is a very slim volume, I should add.

    Looks great!

But after paying $2,000...they don't even throw in the MIDI dongles!?

    Wow.

true , and I just noticed that Ableton doesn't offer the suite by default (edit I mean for the standalone version) ,only the intro version :p :D :D

Ah yes, so they can hook up an army of teenagers to become Ableton customers for life. Smart move!

I’m going to wait. Loads of people will buy this, find it’s buggy, or realise that they need the extra cpu and then sell. (no one have ever released a v1 non-buggy standalone DAW)

  • I think Ableton have played a blinder releasing this today. After a few hours struggling with Logic, the iPad upgrade has been kicked into the long grass, and that Push 3 (not standalone) is looking likely to get the money instead…

  • edited May 2023

So if I already have Suite, the cost for the loaded Push 3 is $1400 US?

Um, anybody want to by an OP-1 Field?
