Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

...if the synth has a comb filter, that is 😉
Here is a cool one for you.
Thanks for the video you posted, too. Very cool, indeed.
That's awesome, thanks for posting 👍
It would make a nice video for IOS if it started with an IOS synth. I’ll bet there are IOS videographers that are up to the task. I hope one of them takes the assignment. I’ll kick in a tip to those that make the video(s) using the YouTube tip jar. It would be nice to know this process for Tera Pro, Drambo, and other products with comb filters.
Why should vital users have all the cool videos. Someday we should get Vital too in the great Logic Pro gold rush.
Synthmaster 2 will be my sandbox. Pretty sure it does all the same things as vital.
See you later, oscillator!
I have a feeling that my question is dumb, but I will ask it anyways: is all comb filter the same? Factory has 1, SM2, LaGrange I think, probably ButterSynth. But indeed, it is a less commun filter than LPF or HPF.
@rs2000 knows… but he’s not in the video creation business but he might make a Dramo Preset or Instrument or Project or whatever Dramo file type works best.
What is Dramo?
Probably Drambo but since you wrote 2 times "Dramo", I'm not sure.
Oh, and Obsidian!
Theoretically yes because a comb filter is basically nothing more than a (filtered) delay with finely adjustable feedback and delay time. Not every comb filter has both constructive and destructive modes (resulting in a frequency peaking vs notching effect).
Drambo has a comb filter too but on top of it, a lot more powerful modules for physical modeling:
Combining these allows you to build very complex models and from my experience the hard thing is not to combine modules but to find out what makes an instrument "tick". A pan drum (hang drum, hand pan) for example has a complex set of modes that require multiple modules to be emulated halfway authentically.
When I go about such experiments, I either analyze existing samples of the instrument and try to rebuild the spectrum with different modules or I just do it by ear which often works surprisingly well and is less tedious.
My "Metal Snare" and "Wooden Snare" were all built by ear in several iterations. Yes, it helps to take a break sometimes and come back to an existing creation later to do further tweaks.

Seeing how this is done I'm kind of surprised a dev hasn't created a synth specialized with this type of synthesis. The controls could be designed to quickly jump to all of those different timbres, and then fine tuned or changed. or elaborated upon.
That vid was excellent, thanks @Montreal_Music
@Stochastically Several of the Icegear Synth feature resonators and noise impulses.
Thanks! A good reminder.
Can anyone remember if there is a comb filter fx app for iOS that takes midi in?
Ape filter
I really like Icegear synth. Speaking of Icegear synth, Mersenne has a module called "body". What exactly is this module? I know that you can shape the body of the physical thing (like the body of a bell or the body type of a guitar), but what is it exactly? A filter? An effect? A mix of both?
@Montreal_Music Now that you asked about Mersenne‘s body module, i looked it up in the manual
The two modules Body & Attack are not based on pysical models like i expected from its hardness parameter. In fact these are two FM modules. Hardness corresponds to the FM modulation depth and color is the frequence ratio of the modulator.
The body operator plays during all stages of the envelope generator, the attack operator only during attack and decay phase.
Thnx, haven't looked at that in ages!
A lot of fun with apeFilter:
Nice!
Btw, I often play with loading a modal synthesizer module for each of multiple miRack apps in AUM app, and turning them into a polyphonic synthesizer through StreamByter app (by @audeonic?) with mono to poly(?) script (by @_ki).
Of all iPad instruments I own, this is the most fun for me.
So thank you so much @audeonic and @_ki.
(Sorry for suddenly talking about something not so related to the thread's theme.)
Oh by the way... Don't forget to ALWAYS use apefilter with a limiter, for the sake of your ears and headphones
I’ve tried the video above in ButterSynth, but he does a follow-up video where he talks about using a comb filter instead of the routing system he uses with a delay - which Obsidian has too! Will see if I can get any decent snares out of Obsidian…
