    I like ABC notation, because it’s human readable and can be stored/processed as simple text data.

    I think a bog standard pianoroll with both vertical and horizontal grids, limited ("folded") to the notes in the current key and scale, is pretty good... Certainly more intuitive and easier (i.e., trivial) to learn than standard notation.
