Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
You’ve only got 8 knobs. What do you set them to!?
So I have a mpk mini that my wife very kindly bought me for Christmas. It’s very nice except I only have 8 knobs and I was thinking of getting a midi fighter twister, but now I don’t want to offend her, and maybe 8 knobs are enough anyway?
If you were to make drone/ ambient music mostly with samples… what would you set the knobs to!?
Atm mine are in koala and set to:
Volume
Vibrato
Noise
Delay
Dub
Reverse delay
Reverb
Filter
As a bonus I have the joystick thing set to the bit crusher.

A bit of streambyter code and you could use the pads to switch the knob assignments on the fly…
What!?!? This is the dream!!!!
The mini has programmes no? Control groupings of eight parameters with each program. That’s how I use my LPD8.
Yes! Oh my god yes!! Now I know what I’m doing this afternoon. Thank you!!!
Even better…
Eleven 😎
You beat me to it.
That was the only reason I came to this post…
Would the “remapping smorgasbord” preset in streambyter be a good starting point as a reference? I’d like to do that with some of my controllers but not sure where to start to learn
Take a look at the help pages. It’s all explained. Remapping is quite simple.
Are we talking while using one synth/app or in a session.
Either way, generally speaking…
Filter frequency and resonance are always high up on my list.
Track volume, instrument volume, or oscillator volume
Whatever built in FX or FX i have in the chain that I want to adjust the Dry/Wet on.
LFO rate or depth, or both.
Attack, and release, especially on certain sounds, like an 808 bass, or an app like Noir.
Gate length
Arp speed or Arp division
It changes a lot based on what I’m trying to do, or want to do.
