Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Great video sir, the MPC Key is bonkers!

  • Good stuff @ipadbeatmaking . Seriously looking at the keyboard. Scaler 2 is essential. first day purchase. Used on almost every track for one thing or another.

As a huge Scaler 2 fan, I always drive people towards ChordPolyPad on iOS and and Cthulhu on desktop.

Love ChordPolyPad and still use it as much now. Scaler 2 is my main chord progression workstation app but still have CPP pads mapped along with BM3 to a custom Launchpad X layout.

That way I have infinite expressive chord pads while creating in BM3.

Gotta check out Cthulhu. Lately, Captain Plugins Epic update has me hypnotized as far as desktop tools. I don’t recommend it as highly as Scaler 2 because 1. It requires internet connection 2. It’ll never be ported to iPad. Those things aside, it’s ridiculous.

You going for the keyboard on day one?!! Scaler is the cheat code of the year for me. Insane how easy it is to get something going

    You grabbing?

  • Personally at the price I’d rather have an MPC and a decent midi controller rather than this however some people will love it and kudos to Akai for expanding their range.

Is it due to the form factor or something else?

  • Too much! By a lot. Especially for folks like myself that haven't used the MPC to know how much I'd want that.

That says a lot.. The iPad is sooo great.. It’s why I wonder, what’s in a Drambo update..

Nah. I don’t like the price nor do I need 61 keys. I’ll check back in when they drop t the 25-49 key versions.

Currently, better to grab a Live 2 and a VIP keyboard. More functionality with enough left over to buy more sounds, plugins, etc.

Not for me. I think for someone who is Akai only and loves MPC instruments/effects it’s a great deal.

Fact is, from a sound and workflow standpoint I’m all the way Native Instruments. Like you, I rarely use my Live. iPad is the best standalone device imo. Started a thread about it around here somewhere.

However, I’m a gear slut. If they drop a 49key I’d def take a serious look. I currently don’t have any keyboard larger than M32 from NI which is enough for how I create but at some point I’ll either grab another S49 or something comparable.

Form factor and price, maybe a smaller version (less keys, much smaller body) might have tempted me, still I don’t hate it, it’s just not for me.
I do think the plug suite is expensive for current MPC users though.

  • The new OPX-4 FM synth is really nice sounding...running the demo of it now, and really liking the grooves I am making.

Fabric and Stage Pianos are nice too!!!! Wow, this is really impressive

Thankfully I can pair it (Live 2) with the Xkey air or an iPad app and have a little slice of the mpc key life lol 😂

I do think the plug suite is expensive for current MPC users though.

Very steep imo. At $250 I would’ve done it already because I think the platform is that good. $500 for the bundle at a discount from it individually costing over $1000 is really really rich. We talking Omnisphere or V-Collection pricing. What’s worse is I’m not seeing an upgrade path to cherry pick and upgrade to the bundle as I go. So it’s either eat the $500 now or piece meal $1000 over time. Not fun options. Plus the trial is only 9 days.

  • I almost wish I could start over with something like the MPC Keys. It looks really cool, It's a full workstation, the price isn't too bad for all the inclusions. I feel like it's for the producer who knows what they need and seems like a solid investment for making full tracks.

All that depends on software optimization and hardware performance, though.

  • edited June 24

    MPC Key 61 + MPC Instrument Collection - $1899 + $0 = $1899

    MPC Live 2 + MPC Instrument Collection - $1299 + $499 = $1699

$200 more for the first option, but for me the value I'd get in return would be worth it.

Reportedly, if you buy MPC Key 61, you will not only get the MPC Instrument Collection plugins for free instead of $499, but you will also be able to share their licenses with up to 2 other MPC devices. For me this not a factor as I don't own any MPC devices at the moment, but I'm guessing some people will be interested in the 3-device thing.

  • The price seems fair especially when considering the price of a Komplete S61 + MK3 + Komplete bundled together. Or, just a few hundred bucks less than a Maschine + alone which is kinda egregious.

Also, its the first of its kind and…part of an impressive run. Akai has been kicking ass to be honest. It’s just that I’m so invested and prefer the Maschine workflow.
