Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Oops, I’m sorry 😞
I can be helpful to a fault.
Counterpoint: unless you have been specifically requested not to talk about the beta, it is totally fine to talk about the beta — any beta.
No worries bro. I’m sure you didn’t see the request in the beta group thread.
Yea. Proper beta etiquette is important, especially when specifically asked to follow instructions. I’m sure it was an accident but something to keep in mind for the future.
Apologies for encouraging the subversive behaviour. Didn't realise that price info was sensitive. I won't tell anyone else
No one needs apologize. My comment was to relay a request by the devs and separate myself from any future leaks in case there are those who wouldn’t receive or heed it. I don’t think anyone fits that description here. Also, had i not been invited to beta id probably be here mining for deets right along witcha.lol. I love this app that much on desktop ive been waiting for this for seemingly ages.
Re: Price. Wouldn’t seem like an issue to share price but i could see where issues could arrive. If everyone anticipates a price and it is more than expected at launch…could create an irreversible pr problem. There are a few recent examples of great apps that were DOA do to pricing actually.
All good my friend and totally understand. I think I’m going to take the plunge and buy the desktop version today ahead of the iPad release. I’m excited!
Fight Club rules considered, any idea of when we may see release? Thanks to all you reprobates I was finally tipped over the edge and bought Scaler for desktop. Now I'm angry at you all for not making me do it sooner. SO GOOD!
Just tell me when. 😄
Man, Scaler 2 is now a lock in my workflow. Sorry ChordPolyPad, ChordJam, and Quantichord… and Keystep 37 😂
…and Launchkey 37 🙃
I feel like I am learning so much about music using Scaler 2, it’s truly a game changer 🙏🏻🙌🏽💡
No word yet. I would assume very soon though. There are some bugs but the first beta was pretty tight. I would imagine the next beta version should fix anything I’ve seen reporter or experienced.
Glad you’re digging desktop in the meantime!💪🏽
That’s the underrated feature imo! You learn so much while making great music.
So .... any fresh news ?
Not really. The initial beta was already very good with less bugs than most iOS apps of a similar complexity at their release date. They seem to have quite high quality standards.
I must also say that Scaler is already so deep in my workflow that I really cannot live without it anymore. I also bought the desktop version. It’s so easy to develop musical ideas, it really lifts my song writing to a new level. The touch UI makes it super easy to play around with the displayed chords, different voicing, inversions, modulations. This is so much better on the iPad than with mouse on the desktop.
Recently I turned more to Bitwig as I just can’t wait anymore for iOS DAWs to catch up. Now I usually jam out new chord progressions with Scaler on my iPad save the state and then air drop the state file to my laptop.
Thanks for that @krassmann
With that info I think I’ll wait for iPad version, desktop has a big sale- 16% off right now. That’s not enough discount knowing I’m just going to buy iOS as soon as it drops. I write on iPad a lot so that works for me. I’ll try the desktop demo in the meantime.
That‘s a good idea as scaler is very deep and I needed to go through lots of tutorials to learn what Scaler can do. The iOS version is very similar, even hard to distinguish at first sight. Of course touch operation changed some ways. Your time with the demo will be well spent. TBH, if you are also doing serious stuff on the desktop it would be definitely beneficial to buy the desktop version, too. It is really not much money for the value it adds to your song writing.
Thanks again @krassmann
this type of plug-in doesn’t really appeal to me all that much but with all the hype (for a good while now, right?) I gotta try it. I have watched the tutorials too. Should have grabbed when it was $20 at the beginning…
The touch UI makes it super easy to play around with the displayed chords, different voicing, inversions, modulations. This is so much better on the iPad than with mouse on the desktop.
Thanks @krassmann
You just confirmed what I'm so looking forward to, the touch user interface. I've had the desktop version since the app was released, but for me, I feel like I'll be even more creative using just my fingertip. Also, I have a big pile of synths on the iPad that I can't afford on the desktop version. That's why I can't wait any longer...
Oh man, I can’t wait to show this to a friend. He’s not too proficient musically, but he comes up with fantastic melodies (so much so that I’m a little jealous every time I help him flesh out a full song and have to end up doing everything but vocals myself). I think being able to experiment quickly with different keys/chord progressions will open him up to a whole new world.
And.. lots happening in desktop production with the Scaler type tools..
Captain Plug-ins, Orb Production …
There will definitely be no one disappointed with Scaler 2 touch version. It’s everything the desktop is made quicker by removing mouse. As @krassmann mentioned the 1 beta release was more stable than most apps launch version.
We haven’t seen I a beta update yet but I assume if we do it’ll be the last before launch. There really isn’t a lot for them to fix.
The new Captain Epic is nuts @RajahP
I was a huge Captain user even before scaler. I still love it but rarely use it due to needing to be connected to internet. Outside of that, it’s Brilliant. Mixed n Key products are actually all great. It’s just they need internet to work.
Melody sauce 2 is definitely something I keep hearing about. Time to learn what all the fuss is about.
I actually bought the bundle that @RajahP posted. I really needed to have Scaler on the laptop, too. Did not spend much time with Melody Sauce so far but looks good.
I applied for the beta and was accepted to the forum but no test flight link was sent - can anyone guide me to the how I could be part of the testing please?
I have not enough knowledge about music theory, so don't invite me
Bought Captain Epic a few days ago, and Melody Sauce 2.. Pretty deep.. The import midi stuff is nice in Captain.. hopefully I will get to dig deeper into it over the weekend..
I think iOs is the perfect playground for these programs..
Odesi is Captain Plug-in offering on iOS .. looks like it has not been updated in 5 years.. hopefully they will bring Epic to iOS…

Could not find Melody Sauce/Scaler 2 as a bundle..
Oh and let’s not forget.. Instacomposer..
Hopefully more developers will bring apps like these to iOS in the future..
Tunemaker is the closest you’ll get to Captain on iOS @RajahP Mixed and Key abandoned Odesi long ago. Honestly, it wasn’t good anyway iMO.
Tunemaker is also abandoned as it didn’t catch on here. The dev is brilliant and was very involved here at launch but there was push back on his pricing model at the time which he later changed but too late. Then pandemic. Sad, it is still actually quite useful without having been updated in years.
@RajahP ah, right. I mixed that up. I just bought them separately but both discounted.
