Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

@CapnWillie I’ve been using Chordpolypad thru IDAM for a while now, making my own sets of chords for songs which forces me to get more familiar with some weird scales which is good . I need to take a closer look at Scaler on desktop, it seems pretty great. I need to check it out and see a list of all the scales it has. Glad to see its so useful to you.

Yes sir. Great minds think alike.lol. Love Chordpolypad. I have a custom template on Launchpad X to control 8 CPP chord pads along with 16 BM3 pads and transport controls. Awesome app.

I’m curious if the Launchpad X has the ability to edit/configure the device to send out the midi note and channel of your choosing on a per button/pad basis.
If so, can this be done directly on the device without the need of a computer?

Novations native software only runs on the desktop (and web browser)

MidiSynth Control https://apps.apple.com/us/app/midisynth-control/id1366849280 is what you want for programming it on iOS

Just got MidiSynth. You’ll need the 12.99 LPX control IAP and you’ll have all the power of Novation Components on your iPad. Actually it’s better than components because you can choose a scale for the keyboard widget.

    I’m good fam thanks.
Yeah that’s the beauty about Florida. I love it. Was around your area last weekend.

So this MIDISynth how you’re liking it? Is it worth the 12.99 for the Launchpad stuff??

Piggybacking: does it work for LPP?

Don’t do that bro. Hilarious thing is I asked myself the same damn question when I saw the IAP. Somehow wasn’t ready to be charged more than a buck or couple.lol. The nerve!

Absolutely it’s worth the whole sushi roll it costs man.😩🤣

    That’s good news, thanks you.
I was originally holding out for an MPD226 for the same reason, it’s configurable without a computer, and the pads are a plus for pairing with Koala.
But since I only finger drum to generate ideas and record phrases, as opposed to the performance being the song, I’ll sacrifice the finger drumming for more button real estate to minimize bank switching.
I’m also a fan of Chordpolypads and I find myself lately creating more than one instance of Xequence pads for triggering various events, so I like the idea of having everything on one grid, kind of like when I use to have a monome.
I’m getting into LK at the moment too.

I’m hoping they show us ❤️ with a Valentines release. That would be soooo sweet.

  • I’ve been holding off purchasing apps in anticipation, I have the money on my account ready to buy this when it drops.

  • Me too! 👍🏻

Same. In the meantime, I’ve been diving deeper into Tonality. Man o man. Didn’t realize what it has become. It’s dog fun and also learns you about the relationship between chords while you play/explore. Really is an amazing accomplishment by @TonalityApp Much of what I use Scaler for is available in Tonality. Just looking forward to the chord sets organized by genre and mood. Jones’n for the sequencer too.

  • The demo of Scaler 2 looked amazing, but I couldn’t see any reference to time signatures? Not everything is in 4/4! Does Scaler 2 cover that?

    So far 3/4, 5/4, 6/8, and 12/8

Agree about Tonality. One of the very best on iOS. Particularly the chord strumming feature from my point of view.

  • I’ve been getting curious about this so did a search to see if I can find any progress on the app. I noticed on their forum that yesterday they posted a request for beta testers for the iOS app. I don’t own it on PC so I don’t think I’d be a good tester but if anyone here is interested, here’s the link https://forum.scalerplugin.com/t/scaler-ios-beta-testing/9441.

No, problem. I'm waiting for the Testflight beta invitation too.

  • I really haven’t anticipated an app like I do this one in a very long time. This is really really gonna eh eh eh hemmm…change my game.

A good keyboard controller was essential to getting the most out of the desktop version. I wonder how touch impacts this area.

As far as externals, I’m thinking Novation Launchkey Mini will be a super great companion. Also have a few ideas for LPX custom scenes assuming program select midi learn is as robust as on the desktop version.

  • How much will it cost… for iPad?

Agreed. I saw it in a video several years ago and instantly started asking about it for iOS, and about possibly replicating features in the Mozaic thread, but it’s simply way more then Mozaic could handle, no disrespect to Mozaic it is one of my most used apps, it’s just not made to do certain things Scaler can accomplish. But I digresss… Hopefully it’s true to form.

Good question… I don’t think there have been any clues official or other wise…

Pure Speculation but on desktop it’s initial release was $49, but went up to $59 after intro period. I have no idea how long it took or how many hours were poured into this, but $15-$20 would be a good guess. Just hopefully not subscription. I’d rather pay a little more up front then subscribe to anything.

    $15-20 seems fair..

  • I’m hoping it’s going to be AU3

It kinda has to be an AUV3 since it's a 'plug-in' right?

  • 110% Gamechangy. Scaler 2 for iPad will definitely meet every expectation anyone familiar with it on desktop has. Guaranteed. Price will also make everyone happy regardless of budget. These people were sent from the future to bring us unrelenting joy.

Beta team can’t share pics or vids but it says nothing of what you can or can’t say. Still, I’m not saying anything more than it is exactly what it says it is. Scaler 2 on iPad.

  • @CapnWillie said:

Oh it’s coming! It’s definitely, absolutely, positively, officially 100% comfirmed coming SOON!

Scaler 2 along with Logic, Maschine and Serato Sample get opened and used any and every time I open my MacBook to create music. Scaler 2 is hands down the best and most comprehensive tool for exploring and writing chords with Captain Plugins coming in second for me. While Captains suite is prettier, more intuitive and probably higher on fun factor…it requires an internet connection and is more expensive. Scaler 2 is pretty much perfect.

Now, it will soon be available to TOUCH 🤯. According to those who’ve seen it, it’s VERY good and will exceed expectations. I don’t even know how that’s possible or what it means. My expectation is a 100% port of the desktop app which is as high an expectation as possible. Can’t possible imagine how it could be better.

In fact, I can’t think of anything gamechangier than Scaler 2 except Logic on iPad. I know it’s oft-discussed round these parts. For the record, I 110% believe Logic is coming or it may just be a massive GB overhaul but Apple is definitely gonna announce major game changing updates for Apple software for M1 chipped up devices this year.

What are you anticipating or jonesing to touch on iPad this year?

Not to be a dampener, i have scaler2 and suggester on Logic

I prefer suggester Mac app over scaler for super quick results

Scaler 2 sometimes too complicated for its own good at times, binding , unbinding etc

It’s so easy to set chord lengths in suggester for example . For scaler , you have go under the hood

The only thing in scaler 2 that’s appeals to me , is the decent inbuilt sound sets , and chord detection hence I can hear everything in one app
