Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

I think Discord makes sense. There are already 400+ users it seems on the LoopyPro Channel and i can only imagine that this will grow as more and more users start using LoopyPro out in the world.

Forums are a bit of the old way of communicating…while valid and essential, Discord seems the norm with a younger demographic…change with the times as they say.

Since there seems to be quite a favorable view of the launch it totally makes sense to adopt a communication model that the masses use if you will when it comes to products they are passionate about and want to have a sense of Real Time community.

AB will be around as long as we support it which is great, but as LoopyPro makes dents into new areas and finds new users, it makes total sense to give those users their platform to speak and get answers…and hey, it’s up to Michael how he wants to divide his time while the rest of us FOMO and Opine about new platforms🤪

Who needs years of accumulated knowledge and advice, free to search on the open web anyway? Much better to endlessly ask the same questions in a private social network instead.

    And get off my lawn.

    Wow...really?
What does "While valid and essential?" mean to you?
Obviously not what it means to me...
I was not dismissive in regards to this amazing AB forum, just providing a point of view which is outside the traditional narrative on this thread, and based upon my observations of Discord and why it is a meaningful conduit for communication.

I guess people like to force false meaning to fit their respective reality tunnels...

Not cool to smear me to fit your narrative @mistercharlie

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to attack you. I was commenting on forums vs stuff like Facebook groups and Discord in general.

I meant that I prefer open forums to closed chatrooms. The Audiobus and Elektronauts forums are amazing resources that anyone can search and read. Discord is not that.

Then it would make sense to say it and frame it as such.

I took this as a back handed slap at what I was saying...which isn't cool. I did not color my statement in any other way than positive and optimistic for what Michael is attempting to accomplish with his goals for LoopyPro.

I get people trying to be funny...but being funny at the expense of distorting and twisting what someone says to fit their agenda is straight up not cool. If you quote someone, respect what they said, and counter it if you will...discussion is meaningful...but don't change what they said to fit your narrative. This isn't helpful, nor does it produce conducive results in a lengthier discussion.

Sometimes I don't know why I bother replying to some threads on this forum...it's like an echo chamber at times...people only hear what they want to hear...

    ..//shakes head, and walks out----->

  • Can’t say I have much time for real-time discussion but it’s great for those who do. Up to 500 members already.

If anything, I hope it makes this place better… if people want to chat hopefully more of that happens over on Discord instead of cluttering the forum.

Why would you not want to use the app? Bizarre.

Why Bizarre? You seem to think that's self-evident. It's not to me at all. Why a dedicated app if a browser will work? Honest question.

    FWIW - Discord. bleh.
I feel like I'm getting sucked closer to Twitter and TikTok.
I'm sucking it up anyway for my favorite app ever ... but blech. :D

Heheh...I know what you mean. I feel like when I'm on Discord, I have no idea what the expected behavior is. Most of the time I'm wondering what all these animated GIFs of critters is all about. I feel like I'm in the waiting room of some bizarre Tim Burton film :)

But hey, if you see me wandering around, feel free to bump in to me and say hey! ;)

  • it's kind of funny how people who make music on their phones and tablets are so sceptical towards something 'new' like discord :p

  • ‘The Please Use Thread Here’ section makes this Discord much better to use than the other open-rabble-anarchy-dip-shit ones I have been on.

Skeptical? Hardly. I recognize its worth. I just don't like it.

  • Should I make a Loopy Pro category here? I’ve been reluctant as it feels overbearing and hubris-y, but if it’d be helpful, I’d do it

    Sounds like a good idea.

  • I never realized just how many old people there were on this forum… someone else:”get off my lawn!” I just recently started on Discord for a game I was a kickstarter backer on. That one and the Loopy Pro one seem very well organized as far as the tools for the developers to get feedback on and information all neatly categorized. Just another tool…

Personally I’d really like it if there were a loopy pro category here. I dont think it would be even slightly overbearing or hubrisy. I’m going to have another go at this whole discord thing though.

    Woo!

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • i think there is room for both. The discord is more for live stuff but I haven't seen much in the way of tips and tricks that have staying power. Most of that ends up here. Maybe it will transition more as the discord gets more traction? But as of now I'm not a huge fan of Discord at all.

I prefer Reddit and the AB forums.

As long as you can keep track of stuff coming at ya from different angles…..

  • TBH I found slack and discord pretty confusing and a forum format more easy to follow. Perhaps it just shows my age? 🙄🤣😇

  • edited January 2022

Yeah there's definitely a place both for forums and real-time discussion places, and each have their advantages. They don't really cancel each other out just compliment each other. The apps can be customised and are better than the web if you wanted a direct connection with someone. :)

    Warm up the wheelchair!

  • @Michael you are absolutely doing the right thing using a platform like Discord as well as this forum. The Koala crew have done a brilliant job of creating community on Discord, Facebook and YouTube and I think you can do the same for Loopy Pro. Don’t limit yourself to just this forum. We are a supportive slice who will always be here. Grow your community 👍

If you're on an iPad or an iPhone, the app is way easier to use and better designed for the device. If you're on a PC or Mac, then sure, the browser's fine, but I assumed from the original post that the writer wasn't using one of those to access Discord.

Same here. At the same time, I think it's a good sign that 500+ people disagree with me, because > @Michael_R_Grant said:

I agree with that assessment. The browser version on a mobile device seems to absolutely suck. I tried on an android phone, it's almost unusable. Not because of the phone or android...

But this doesn't make my wish to use a proper browser-based interface bizarre - if they offered one, it would still have the advantages I listed and more. What is bizarre is that they are getting away with such a feeble mobile implementation. :)

  • Discord app for Win / Mac / iPad / iPhone works pretty smooth.

  • This thread is a perfect example of why I love the AB forum 😂

Discord seems fine for asking quick questions and getting quick answers. For such a ground breaking app like Loopy, being able to exchange knowledge quickly is a great way to untap its potential.

I did get told off for not ‘threading’ or something 😂
