    My understanding that is if you wanted to map several destinations to a single knob on the play page (for example both cutoff filter and also echo delay) but you wanted turning the single knob 50% to only adjust the cutoff a little but the delay time a lot then you could use multipliers to adjust how much the knob tweaks each parameter instead of having the same percentage for both
