Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Backing Track maker suggestions?

I know of a few but I'm looking for something to jam on guitar with. A great advantage would be a list of chords in any key and mode. Other scales would be great (but not essential)

Only 2 that stand out so far

Backing Track Builder - Sounds good for my needs but limited in progression structure.
iReal Pro - Better progression building options but playback sounds are less than I would hope for.

Don't like (for this purpose):
Anything with pre-made recordings that can't be altered beyond pitch + and -.
Chordbot

Session Band apps

  • Pretty sure they don't have modes, but SessionBand apps come to mind - https://apps.apple.com/developer/id579320222

See this page for an idea of the chord variations - https://www.sessionband.net/the-edit-screen-sessionband-music-app-help

Thanks, I should provide a list of those I've tried and not liked.

  • How about GarageBand?

Thanks, but no, I just don't get it. To be honest though I don't need anything complicated, iReal is pretty good, just doesn't have a decent program for the style I want. A bit hard to jam to jazz when I want alt rock.

Not sure if it would fit you needs entirely
And gotta warn... for me it's confusing. Don't use it for years now. From the Different Drummer dev

  • And Odesi... a non musician friend love it on PC.
It has been mentioned in other topics here, and in my mind, I seem to recall there are some limitations. But maybe it helps you, so here's the link:

  • And of course... how could I forget... Yamaha MMS. It's the ios version of a QY sequencer

sorry for triple posting. As I remember stuff, i'll write it down

  • Thanks for the suggestions. MMS is not available, possibly just my location. The other 2 are not bad. Still not as comprehensive as the 2 I favour. The sounds are pretty poor. Odesi is not bad that. At least it allows some creative chord positioning. Not so much a fan of the preset rhythms in Guide Track. Thanks very much for the suggestions.

Chordbot is quick and easy, and exports midi stems. Up to 8 instrument tracks I think, maybe 10. Yea that is the one draw back of Cbot, I usually get it close and then do some midi editing elsewhere.

  • Lumbeats apps for drums, but not Au.

  • I like Chordbot but I want to be able to position chords, at least 1/4 notes. Lumbeats are great but I need harmonic content. Fire 4 looks really interesting. Will defo check that out. Danke

  • Their is a gazillion of them available on YouTube. You may want to start there unless you have very specific need.
