Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

OT: What is the best way to stream traditional AM/FM stations into my new vehicle???

Unfortunate circumstances forced me to purchase a new vehicle.

Fortunately it came with Apple CarPlay.

I live in a remote area where my “local” stations aren’t very clear reception-wise.

I wish to stream these stations through an app that also works in AUM, so I can EQ the signal to my personal taste and perhaps add a bit of reverb to make me sonically happy.

Any ideas?!?!?

  • Yeah, that’s the app I’m interested in, but am wondering if my stream links will work with it.

Can someone with Radio Unit see if my link will work?

    Here it is:

    Thanks!

Doesn't seem to. You need the actual stream name (mp3, aac, etc.). Is there a website? Sometimes I can find the stream in the web source text.

Edit: I looked at the source of the link you posted, and it is aac. But the server expects a browser-style connection, and RadioUnit isn't that smart. Their website might reveal another path.

  • Radio Garden?

  • Here it is:

FYI: not wanting to record off it — just wanting to use EQ and perhaps an expander or other audio tools to make my “local” radio stations sound better in my car and on hikes W/headphones.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I checked that, and some of the other providers that list stations. The links all work in a browser, but not in RadioUnit. Doesn't seem to appear in Radio Garden, but you might try it yourself.

  • Thinking I might just call the engineering department at the station and see if they can provide the .m3u id. It appears that’s at least one of the formats radio unit accepts.

    Thanks for the help, all!

Right. Good idea. Not sure if their server/service works that way, though.

But I just wanted to mention that, for pure music listening on internet radio, you're not limited to local broadcasters. You might find stations elsewhere offering a mix you enjoy. Of course, you need local for traffic, news, etc.

  • Also free concert ticket giveaways!

    Remember concerts?!?!?

Wasn't there a web browser AU plugin that came out a few months ago? I can't remember the name. Maybe that one would let you stream those stations. I'm not sure if it allows routing the audio though (I seem to remember that might be the case.)

    Found it: https://apps.apple.com/app/id1543843478

    Video by Doug:

  • WebAU seems to pause the stream after the first 7 seconds or so then glitches afterwards on the stream mentioned :

Radio Unit cannot load it at all . . Streemur seems to be able to play it without interruption, but it’s IAA only if it matters.

  • Ahhhhh yes, Streemur!

    That’s the old school app.

As I recall, the developer @CIT_Audio was making some improvements on it as well....

  • I believe on the original Radio Unit thread he also said he was going to make it free. He cut the price in half afterwards around Christmas, then returned to the regular price.

It’s his only iOS app, so I totally understand. It only has five user presets, but I’ve found with apps like this you can never have enough presets...
