Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Red Rock Sound Bass Enhancer maybe? I use it frequently with my TD-3 to bring back lower harmonics that get removed by the distortion circuit.

Also, Drambo has an overtone module that can determine the overtones / undertones of your pitch signal. Route that to a sine generator or whatever and you've got all sorts of control of your subs.

  • iFXRack includes SUBHarm in the full package. It's also present in Pure Synth Platinum, maybe other GM synths.

i thought Drambo might have a solution. thanks

Pitch (overtones) in the misc section.

Also, the pulse divider will create sub oscillators (square only) of your input signal. these can then be sent into filters etc, to shape them.

so i put this in the fx chain? do i send it to a sine oscillator? or does it work on its own as an effect?

No, it's not an audio effect, it's a pitch CV modifier. So you'll connect it to the pitch output on the MIDI TO CV module.
You'll want to use 2 oscillators. Route the unaltered pitch signal to oscillator 1. For the 2nd oscillator, route the pitch signal to OVERTONES, then to oscillator 2. You can listen to both oscillators together with a mixer or x-fader.

miRack. There are several presets on Patchstorage to which you could easily add audio in:

thanks might be a bit complicated for what i’m looking to accomplish.

  • One I wouldn’t recommended is Klevgrand’s Knorr. It didn’t do what I was hoping.

never heard of that one. thanks for the advice. i won’t try that one

I rate Klevgrand very highly so it might be just me. Please watch some vids or maybe demo the desktop version.

  • same here klevgrand usually have great apps. i’ll have to watch some videos to see for sure

  • It'd be nice to have the other type of bass enhancer - the psycho-acoustic type, in addition to the subharmonic generators on iOS. 'Hear the sub bass on small speakers.'
    Waves R-Bass and MaxxBass.

Try this. And give me some feedback please.

Load the Drambo AUv3 in your favorite host (or as an AUv3 inside Drambo 😉) and load this project.

  • Thanks @rs2000. Will test tonight.

  • Had a go at building in Drambo tonight, by disecting @rs2000's patch above. Thanks again! I don't understand TUNE 2 (I'm still getting my head around D's patching mech).

Had a look at a few Doepfer manuals, tried to find an audio frequency divider in both D and miRack, but no luck. Sent the audio into a (digital) clock divider  and a waveshaper and was distracted by some gnarly 4-bit tones.

Well, so how does it sound compared to the Waves plugins you mentioned?

This is great, mate! Thanks so much
I ran an egoist bassline through it and made it way better

Sounds a bit like R-Bass plus a pitch shifter. Great work.
    Thanks again.

  • Beleza @senhorlampada & thanks @ocelot for your feedback! 👍🏼

    this is glorious ! 🥂

  • Nurack midi harmony module also does the trick. It's easier to setup.
