Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
Smoov AUv3 by Caelum Audio
https://apps.apple.com/app/id1545474672
Description:
Smoov is a soft, clean and transparent sounding program-dependent AUv3, IAA & standalone compressor. It takes inspiration from hardware compressors of the past, however it focuses on peak detection meaning that it can quickly and effortlessly react to incoming signals and blend them in with the surrounding audio field. When a busy track needs taming, Smoov softly settles your tracks elegantly.
The compressor also uses a program-dependent envelope influenced by old hardware, which can soften anything you throw at it.
Is a chaotic track starting to get to you? Maybe you should make it a little more ‘Smoov’.
Smoov is both a stand-alone application as well as an AUv3 plugin, meaning it works within iOS and iPadOS hosts such as GarageBand.

This looks cool. I wonder what "old hardware" is the influence here… Might "smooth" suggest LA-2A?
@White thanks for sharing!
@swiss6th we took inspiration from a few different devices. When designing we did look at the LA-2A but it wasn't "Smoov" enough. The release section is however heavily influenced by the LA-2A.
Demo video now up:

Couldn’t resist. Will report back.
Congrats @CaelumAudio. Just bought it and I’m in love❤️
@CaelumAudio
Freya would love this one.
An homage to Smoove B?

Ah yes, there it is. I have been waiting for this one.
Only $1.99? Wow. Great price.
😂😂😂 I used to read Smoove’s column all the time lol
How is it on CPU?
Light very light
👍🏼
@CaelumAudio Is it possible to adjust the settings of Schlap so it behaves the same way as Smoov? ..or is the envelope or release specifically different in each app? Thanks!
p.s. I love Tape Pro. Such a great app.
They both get triggered by incoming audio differently.
The one detects peaks and the other listens to rms.
Hi @BitterGums
@jolico is correct, Schlap detects rms whilst Smoov detects peak. They also calculate and update the attack and release setting every sample based on the current amount of gain reduction. The equations to calculate these are both completely different!
Hope this clarifies your question!
David
Smoov and Schlap - what a great idea to create compressors focused around a specific character. You know instantly which one to reach for. 👍
@CaelumAudio Oh, that's interesting. Makes perfect sense though, thank you for clarifying.
@jolico thanks for the info!
