Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

  • Command to allow plugins

    sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /path/to/your.vst

If you've never used Terminal just be careful though I doubt this would mess up much.

Search your computer and find and open Terminal then copy the first part of the command from the word sudo through the word quarantine. Paste into Terminal the bit you just copied then hit the space bar once, you could type out the pathway to your plugins folder but I'm lazy. At this point in another window navigate to your Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plugins folder and drag the Plugins folder into the Terminal window right after the space, this will put the pathway to your plugins into Terminal. Hit the Return key and you will prompted to enter the computer password so do that and hit the Return key again. At this point if you don't get an error you should be good. You won't get any confirmation of this however. The next time you open Logic you shouldn't get any plugin validation errors.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have questions

Thanks so much for this - really appreciate it (also thanks to others who chimed in as well!). I ran the command successfully however I now need to find a way to successfully remove the plugin so I can re-install it. Logic still sees it as failed and when I go to re-validate within Plugin Manager in Logic it fails. If I remove the component from the plugins folder, Logic still thinks it's there. I'm coming from Windows and used to Uninstallers so excuse the OSX naivety :)

Just some further info - I tried adding a restart into the mix with removal and re-addition of the plugins Union and others that wouldn't validate) separated by a restart but still no go sadly.

My apologies as I think I'm borking the theme of this thread!

Unfortunately Logic won’t validate most of that Soundspot bundle. The piano works and is lovely but most of the others don’t. Sorry I’m not at my MacBook and can’t remember which other one works. Anyone else have any experience with these in Logic on an M1?

You can force OSX to validate most plugins. Google it and you should come up with a few things to try. There is a short terminal command you can use. I’m not near my computer at the moment but I’ll post the info later when I get a chance. I have the Soundspot synth Union and it validates just fine.

Can I ask if you're using Union in Logic on an M1 based system?

No I’m still on Intel so that’s probably why it won’t work on your Mac. I was wondering why you couldn’t get it to work. I’m not totally up to date on the M1 but unless you can get it to work in Rosetta (you can Google all that) you will probably have to wait for Soundspot to update their plugins to work on Apple Silicon. If I was in your boat I’d check first that plugins will work on Apple Silicon before you buy them. I think you said you emailed Soundspot so that’s a very important bit of info to make sure they have, maybe they can tell you when Union will be updated.

Thanks Yowza. Yes didn’t think of compatibility, just saw the wonderful price tag 😁 Still great value with the other plugins. Will report back once I hear from Soundspot. How do you find Union?

Plugin Boutique have got a few good Easter sales on - Sugar Bytes synths/effects all reduced:
    https://www.pluginboutique.com/manufacturers/68-Sugar-Bytes

But the ones I love are the Freakshow Industries effects - all at £9.95 / $13.24 for 24 hours only. Weird and wonderful in looks and sound...👍
    https://www.pluginboutique.com/deals/show?sale_id=7809

And an amazing deal on a great set of plugins from soundspot (union is a fantastic synth) - £570 worth of plugins for £4.98 - https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/81-Bundle/83-Genre-Bundles/7509-Good-Friday-Producers-Bundle

On another semi related topic, can anyone recommend a similar forum to Audiobus for OSX music production?

    Thanks gang!

I don’t have an m1, but I got a bunch of the soundspot plugins the other day and they work fine in logic. I had to restart the computer to have a few of them show up once i intsalled them. Union was installed a while ago and that works fine for me as well. I’m on logic 10.6, Catalina, 2012 mbp.

  • I’ve had Union for a while and it works well in Logic but I’m on an Intel Mac mini.

  • Thanks @qryss and @mrufino1 . It must be an M1 issue. Hope it gets updated. Have the same issue with Air Music Technology's Hybrid 3.

  • All Glitchmachines plugins and sample packs 50% discount till April 23rd with code BLUSHRESPONSE50

Same setup here, Union works well. Great sounds, too.

New Bleass Desktop effects bundle available from Plugin Boutique...

    https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/39-FX-Bundle/7541-BLEASS-Audio-Classics-Bundle

I'd buy this same bundle at the same discount in the iOS app store :) but they have a different one there

  • Ooh, nice. I might get that shimmer verb. I don’t need the others, but I love shimmer verb in the right situation and soundtoys crystals isn’t always exactly what is needed, sometimes it’s a little too weird.

  • Wavbvkery free Dreams Hip Hop Drum Kit

    https://wavbvkery.com/nick-mira-drum-kit/

  • I've been testing two of these Neural DSP amps the last days and they are incredibly good, best amp sims I ever played. The Plini and the Cory Wong, will buy both. The Plini has big spacey clean sounds and Cory is more on the funky side (but also very good in cleans). The other amps they have are mainly aiming for the rock and metal players, so not for me but also have a good reputation. All amps (except of one) are 50 % off for the next 4 1/2 days.

Wires is definitely worth a look if you're into Hainbach's stuff (he helped develop it) and you get a free copy of their new tilt EQ plugin with any purchase...

  • Thanks for this. Momentum is pretty cool. Nice of them to offer another free pack for it.

  • Cymatics is having Producer Week Sales - with 2 new free sample packs, Lofi Starter pack, & Trap starter pack free. There are other free packs but these are the two new ones, also up to 70% off plug-ins and other packs.

Discount comes to $69 for me just because of the free Juno chorus plug-in they gave away. It’s pretty much a steal at this price, wonder how much of a discount it might contribute next time V Collection 8 goes on sale?

  • You DON'T have to pay for the actual update if you have Pigments 2. Just open up Arturia Software Center and update.
