Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Just found this (probably old news or better options) but this site will give you a direct link to a bunch of stations:
    fmstream.org

Click on a button on the right(mp3, LC .. not web), then from the player drag drop the link directly into Radio Unit

    Nice find.

I’m still hoping @giku_beepstreet will add more user slots. Only have 2 left. I want to save many more. Any chance of that happening ?

Y'know, you can overwrite the "factory" slots, if there are any you don't need. Of course, more slots would be great, preset banks maybe.

  • @uncledave Yea I do, but there’s so many states out there and the ones they provided are good, I could have easily loaded this up with 100 presets by now, but I’ve been very picky with stations I save. Yea folders or banks is a great idea cause I could have folders by language, country, CC & Public Domain, Genre etc... good idea.

    Neat find!

  • Add to AUM, find a station you want to mess with, then keep duplicating the channel. Right on.

  • Really having trouble adding a new station. How do you drag from fmstream to radio unit?

Sure, can you send me an example of a radio URL from Radio Garden?

Here’s the share link from the radio garden app:

    https://radio.garden/listen/atlantic-fm-107/PDOkmahY

What would the corresponding link be in radio unit?

If anyone's interested, I have created a list of c.10,000 Internet-Radio URLs by genre. I think there are still more genres I haven't discovered. Obviously posting the list here doesn't make sense, but if you PM me I might be able to send the text file (480k) ia email.

  • Thanks, @motmeister, it may take a minute or two to get through all these! 🙃

  • All of the previous BBC radio links have broken.

There’s a new list here, which includes all of the regional stations (scroll down to the second box):
    https://gist.github.com/bpsib/67089b959e4fa898af69fea59ad74bc3

Radio 4 works fine in Radio Unit, so I assume the rest do, but there’s a geo-block on 5.

  • It seems that Radio Unit cannot play special bitrates like 160 kbps.
IAA - Streemur and Strom manage that.

  • Was there any movement on increasing the number of user slots?

Still just 32. I don’t recall any indication more slots are being contemplated.

Has anyone got Sveriges P1 to work in Radio Unit? I’m using the URL https://http-live.sr.se/p1-aac-192 copied from them above list but it doesn’t seem to work, though if I copy this URL into a browser it works fine.

Yeah, Radio Unit cannot handle certain aac streams. I've had the same experience with radioswiss. You could see if the provider offers a lower-fi mp3 stream.

Still puzzled by this artificial limit. It is a list-based view, so having let´s say 100 channels sound like almost no work involved. My fear is that an update would be more likely if Radio Unit was just another Drambo module, hope to be proven wrong one day.

First I thought this could be overcome by having multiple AU versions, but the channel list is global, so that doesn´t help either.

The link above is for a cool, old sci-fi station (thanks to @Poppadocrock for his internet-radio link)

More channels would really make this app so much better.
I also wish there was a way to skip back 20 seconds as I tend to miss the gold nuggets that come from some stations. I guess that may not be possible though, I’m no programmer but it would be marvellous.

I posted over on the Beepstreet forum about a confirmed bug where Radio Unit's AUv3 parameters don't show up in AUM. I mentioned that I'd read some posts about people wanting more than 32 station slots there too. You might want to post over there as well.

I don't know if Radio Unit will get any attention with the other major development going on over there, but it never hurts to ping the developer. Best place to do that is on their forum. http://forum.beepstreet.com/discussions

  • More slots as iap as incentive!

  • I have posted a more slots request over there a long time ago, so hopes are not high. But it´s good that you combined with that bug report regarding missing parameters. Sounds like it needs fixing, so hopes are rising for more slots:)

Just stick RadioAU in AUM and put a recorder after it and always record when you listen to the radio. If you don't want something just delete it (it's not like you are wasting audio tape or anything). Maybe hit delete after every 10 minutes. Then start recording again. And so on.

If something good comes along you will have it recorded.
