Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
How do you all get your IOS synths into your computer DAW’s?
Hi all!
FYI, I am using an IPad Pro 12.9” 2017 model ( I got it new in 2018 because I Wanted the headphone jack)
I have been messing with workflow stuff. When I am jamming/writing, I have a Roland tr-8 drum machine, a Deepmind12D, and my ipad all going into an audio mixer that is also an interface (Behringer XR18) , then to powered speakers.
When I record I have been using NS2, Auria Pro or Cubasis 2 to record the iPad synths. Then I bounce the synths to stereo tracks and export them to my Mac mini.
Can I just record from the audio of my iPad through the mixer? Is there any reason I should not?
How do you all record your iOS synths to your desktop daw’s? Inquiring minds want to know.

i use an iconnect midi2+ interface with Cubase Pro on my desktop. It’s awesome because i can send audio both ways. it’s awesome
Sounds interesting. I will go look it up.
Aaaagh, discontinued and their new versions do not do iOS is looks like
Totally fine to just use the headphone output of your iPad. Just get a decent level through your mixer and party on. The DAC converter on an iOS device is absolutely on par with the DAC on your average synth/drum box/etc.
IDAM
IDAM stand for Inter Device Audio and MIDI. We won’t cover the MIDI aspect today, but if you’re familiar with MIDI, then you won’t need any extra explanation. You can find the settings in the same spot as the audio setup.
The IDAM feature exists to let you easily use your iPad (or iPhone) as as an audio source an app like GarageBand or Logic on the Mac. This lets you use any of the zillions of amazing music apps on iOS, and record their audio and MIDI output into your Mac app, without the audio degradation or converting to an analog signal and back again.

This is fantastic! Thank you> @syrupcore said:
Thank you for this, I worried that is might yield a lower quality somehow. I appreciate the verification
@X3LA has a thread here that might elaborate on the question
