Non-iPad gear to play with headphone + guitar
What is to your knowledge the best sounding gear to play with your guitar and your headphone? Sometimes you just want to pick up your guitar and play on the coach late at night and you want something small with an headphone input. I know Vox have some gadget that you plug in the jack input of your guitar, but I'm not sure of the sound quality.
I already have a Yamaha THR10II but I also want something smaller.

I have some of the Vox amphones - basically a pair of headphones with one of those little vox gadgets built in. I really like them and use them all the time, in fact they’ve become my most used iOS headphones. You flick a switch to use them powered straight to a guitar, or unpowered just like regular headphones.
The bass ones have rhythm built in, shame the guitar ones don’t, but they have a 3.5mm input, I plug a cheap Bluetooth receiver into that and play drum tracks from my phone.
They’re not very pretty and the control dials are not very usable when they’re on you ears, but they sound good and do the job you’re describing well, somehow easier than using the dongle version with regular headphones.
As an alternative, I also have a Korg Pandora mini (second hand, no longer in production). I really like this too, inbuilt amps, fx, tuner and rhythms. Only thing is I can’t read the display very well without glasses (my problem, not a criticism of the device), so I find it easier to use the phone and vox amphones described above. The korg still lives permanently with my frequently used Hofner shorty travel guitar though, quick to get playing if a little battery hungry.
There is soooo many options.
How much do you want to pay and What style of music do you play?

There is also the Mooer pedal and multi effect. They make the much liked GE Labs on iOS.
Some band have completely replaced their amp for playing live with a Amp pedal + Ir cab sim pedal.
Here is a video of cradle of filth. May not be your cup of tea but the interview is interesting how they replaced their live amp with 2 pedals that fit in their guitar case.
Hi! 300$ max. I play with my classical and acoustic guitar. I love to play Isaac Albeniz song and bluegrass riff with my acoustic. I also still a huge death metal fan, but for whatever reason, when I play guitar, I dont like to play with distortion. I recently sold my electric guitar.

Micro amp works good, but it needs time to get a useful sound for practice.
I am a bit confused. You sold your electric guitar and play with acoustic and classical guitar. But your looking at vox mini guitar amp?? Call me confused or I can't read properly.
I've got a pocket pod that I use sometimes, it has a great tone by default, and apparently a whole bunch of other tones that I've been too lazy to learn how to figure out (shortly after purchasing it I discovered ipad amps and that is where all of my effort goes now). I still use the pod every once in awhile, and I like it's portability.
Got a Korg PX3B and a PX4, fun little pocketable gadgets and great for jamming.
I play with a Godin Multiac, a classical/electric guitar that I can plug. It's a nylon string with an input jack. I'm looking for something to make my guitar sound big in my headphone. I also have a Seagull with a Fishman Pickup. I love to play with reverb, delay, chorus, etc. I hope that clarify. I agree that I was not clear enough.
I find the best portable sound in headphones by using an older iPhone with
an IK Multimedia iRig HD.
The iPhone 5S (or any iPhone with a headphone port)
works well to load up AUM and a variety of IAA/AUv3 FX'es which pristine audio
quality. I can load up AUM with ready to run guitar rigs. I usually create the AUM projects
on the iPad to benefit from the larger UI and then Airdrop an AUM project into the
iPhone and save a local copy.
I velcro the iPhone to one of my guitars to use the shortest cables possible
and using the CCK adapter I can also attach a battery device for even more mobile
playing time. Without a battery the iPhone discharges under an hour. Used and functional
older iPhones can be found on Amazon and the usual private seller venues.
The Vox devices are also the best of that lot. Monotone makes a really cheap one for anyone with budget constraints but the Vox'es are worth it and I had some success
plugging the Vox into the output of some guitar guitar pedals like the TC Electronics
Ditto Looper but I think the impedance mismatches make this risky... maybe someone can
weigh in on that issue. Does the impedance/load design of a guitar pedal match the
circuit loading of a guitar output jack? It seems like it should but does the Vox simulate the
load characteristics of an Amp's input? Seems like it should. But some pedals didn't seem to work well with the Vox for a load device so I stopped and put all the pedals away since
IOS Apps can replace most of my pedals except for the Joyo Amp Sims which have a better sound than any IOS Amp Sim... I might need to A/B them against the new Overload TH-U amps however since they really scratch that "itch" for me in presence, low latency and
a lack of sonic veiling (or fizziness so obvious in many older amp sims).
NOTE: For clean purposes the Overload TH-U is a free AUv3 but the urge to buy stuff will
always be a test of character. Might not be relevant for anyone seeking to put acoustic guitar through headphones but I suspect the added warm coloring would be a benefit for longer practice sessions.
