Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Do the new launchpads have a low power mode?

Or is there no way around using external power?

  • If you had a time machine, you could go back a year or two to the time before they updated the ipad to provide less external power for no god damn reason at all

That’s probably what happened. An engineer at Apple probably just thought “why not make the port supply less power?”

Then they proposed it to their boss, discussed it during several meetings, got the go-ahead to start the project, and worked out how to do it. Then they did the coding.

Then they beta-tested, and finally added it to an iOS software update.

That’s almost certainly how it happened.

My Launchpad Mini MK2 works with the simple CCK without extra power. Pads send MIDI notes to the iPad 6 and sending MIDI notes to the Launchpad will illuminate the respective LEDs. (Color controlled by note velocity).

  • Launchpad X does as well.
