I am wondering what the capibilities are for effects routing on the different iPad models? How many effects, synths, latency? Please describe as I don't know how to determine vs. a computer. thanks!

Never wait for the next generation. Be on the most capable device you can afford.
About 3-4 effects apps on iPad Air should be fine.
Thanks Sebastian. I'm going to wait one more update (hopefully iPad pro). I'm still using my $750.00 64GB iPad 2 with a cracked screen. Hopefully June...
