Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
While we're all cooped up inside, here're some Loopy Pro updates

Enough of the distractions, we need @michael singularly focused on getting Loopy Pro out the door and into our grubby, patient little hands!
Samplebot has been under construction for a while now as well - and I’ll be on it on a flash when it arrives. Just wondering how it was panning out. Maybe it’s getting integrated into Loopy Pro? 😃
What's wrong with Samplebot 1?
Yeah I’ve decided to postpone it in favour of getting its daddy Loopy out the door. It was frustratingly close but I realised I really needed lots of extra time focused on marketing in order to do it justice; didn’t just want to release it into a vacuum.
Yeah, this; it’s actually the same code base so ultimately SB will be a trimmed-down and specialised version of Loopy
Nothing as far as I know. It’s working fine for me.
Are you having problems with it?
To be honest, it’s pretty limited. Especially compared to what 2 is going to do (unlimited pads, AU support, fx, better midi etc). I built 1 fairly fast ‘cos I had a Tonight Show segment coming up that needed it, so it’s reasonably cut down.
I’m sure it will make a welcome addition when it arrives, I really like Samplebot so an enhanced version would be something to savour.
Please keep the ability of the loop markers at the top to remain fixed in order you have the ability to slide a specified amount of bars to loop along the timeline.
Does asking roughly when it might be available qualify as one of those rhetorical questions I wonder?
Is it going to be the kind where you play/perform a loop then hit a button to hear it back or just totally auto based on transient detection?
Thanks! But as to when: no idea at all 😁
Bit of both - if you leave a little silence at the end it'll punch out by itself, but you can also stop recording yourself and it'll find the loop within the audio you recorded.
How is Loopy Pro doing?. Any updates?. It’s my hope for audio clip looping and sequencing.
Really well! I'm reasonably confident about seeing release within six months, beta much earlier.
Great. Best wishes and merry Christmas
And to you!
soooooooooooooooooooo excited to play with Loopy pro, I'm sure it has everything I desire being a loop addict that I am! How do we get in line to be beta testers?
I guess just keep your ear to the ground - I don't really have a formal list right now; I'll put a call out here and elsewhere when it's ready for action.
Hi, i actually play with Drambo and i think that the only thing is missing is cpu efficiency with AU and a possibility to loop audio and midi in sync with the famous loopy workflow. why developer don’t collaborate to make a ultimate big perfect app ? there just to mush app doing almost the same thing with some add on but... it still frustrating as customers.
When we start a loop in live performances we don’t always know the number of bar or beat we gonna get inspired but we want this loop when we press the button. that’s it , i think developer try to make app for the no musician people and forget that we are intelligent enough to chose the time signature and basic stuff.
last thing is that loopy hd already find the tempo and it was perfect, just reset the ableton link punch in ,play and punch out and that’s it the funk drummer play on the tempo. some time it’s appear half tempo but it’s doesn’t matter if we can change the time signatures what loopy hd already do ( just need midi blinding for that) . and it’s musicaly intersting because changing time signatures to loopy impact all ableton link synced app and can create nice polyrhythmic.
Just catching up on this thread. Lots of amazing info within but my mind is completely blown by the thought of SPP support. So many possibilities! Thank you for caring about this sort of stuff Mr. Michael.
My pleasure!
Will it be an AUv3?
Yep, and a pretty comprehensive AUv3 host as well. I'm gonna recommend the latter.
Off the top of my head I think I own 2 apps with this capability:
Midi Guitar 2
Drambo
I'm sure it's very tricky to pull off in a single app. But I can see the power of having
both.
Uhhh yes please. Wow! now I’m really excited for June/July 2021!
Can’t wait! Just went through the entire thread and the app is going to be awesome, keep it up
Quick little demo showing widgets hooked up to group playback actions 😊
More widget action:
Dude, this is insane. I have no idea what I’m looking at. Can you explain the widget concept? I can clearly see the groups working (!!!) but it’s hard to grok the widgets without context.
Yeah, I talked about widgets years and years ago, with the initial mockups - they're controls you can add to the workspace, and then program to do whatever you want. Buttons, sliders, dials, X-Y pads.
Here's a freeze-frame from the video showing the button widget config:
Holy cow! That is wild. I totally forgot about those widgets. Great to see progress!
