Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

What if AUM had channel freeze?

Multiple channels interacting aside, wouldn’t it be fun if AUM had a channel freeze function. Select the duration you want to freeze for and AUM makes its own audio one shot or loop in a new channel next to the frozen one.

  • Oh yes that’ll be great.
    Really like the idea.

You can make loops in as many bars as you wish in AUM then load the file back into AUM using the Fileplayer. For one shots load your sample into Digistix or Digikeys.

Yes, but freeze is more than just making the audio copy, it is keeping a frozen record of the items used to make the audio, but without the overheads.

For that I’d use a previously saved version with your FX routing still intact and if you need to reintegrate into your new AUM project IMPORT the required channels from the old one.

Multiple steps but doable and reliable.

O yes, doable, but imo freeze would be a smoother flow option if done right. While I understand that some solutions are just looking for problems to solve, some solutions just are so called ‘quality of life’ solutions :)
