And being around 40% of the price of Apple pencil helps. Apple really jacks up the price on that. Bought a iphone 6s for less than the cost of the Apple Pencil. 🍏 🤔
That’s really cool. I like the pressure sensitivity+angle detection of the pencil for drawing, but if that’s not something you need, the crayon would be my pencil-like device of choice.

If it had the magnetic charging (does it?) and the same footprint so it could fit in my iPad case I’d use it.

It's direct lightning charging. Footprint might not be the best, but I use it with a Fintie Amazon case for my iPad 6th Gen and it fits well.
Works with iPads released in 2018 and later. So, the iPad 6th Gen, iPad Pro 2nd generation and later will work.
But not my iPad Pro 9.7?
It works perfectly with my Apple Pencil 1st gen.

Yeah, sadly. I tested that and was disappointed as well. But the funny thing was that until iOS 12.2, it only worked with the 6th gen iPad. Apple did an update to allow it to work for the newer iPads that they released.
So 2018 pro is out then?

Wacom Bamboo
If you use apps like GoodNotes there is no comparison. My ability to take notes on iPad got much better, even from the adonit Bluetooth stylus I had prior to it. But yes, for general interaction, a normal stylus probably gives you everything you need.
It works with the 2018 pro (both the 11 in, and 12.9 in model)
If you’re using the 2017 model (iPad pro, iPad, etc) then it would not work.
So, neither in my iPad Pro 9.7 nor on my iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen.
I’m out and will check out those Wacom Bamboo and Adonit.

Nylon meaning plastic or nylon meaning a soft tip? It could be either.
If you mean soft, there’s one under a lot of different names that has the plastic disc on one side and the mesh tip on the other and it works well. If you search for precision stylus or fine point stylus you should see it. Something like this:

If you mean plastic, if you can find the adobe slide stylus , its actually an adonit bluetooth stylus and the iPad sees it as such. When my adonit one broke after I dropped it, I got the adobe one to replace it. Since I got my 2018 iPad and Apple Pencil 1 I haven’t used it, but it worked pretty well on apps that supported it, and I think I paid $25 (I’m in the us).
That being said, I’m far from an Apple fanboy these days but the pencil plus iPad combo is quite good for note taking and such. I don’t do any drawing, but I understand it is good for that as well. I haven’t used the pencil for anything music related so I can’t comment on that, although at some point I will try it now that my workload has lightened up.

Gonna check out your recommendation on the Adobe/Adonit stylus to compare.
These are the reasons why I don't use Pencil 2 much -
Charging Pencil is a hassle even though it is a matter of just placing it on the top of iPad Pro. I don't want to place it in charging mode whenever I'm not using it (like some people do) - that may run out of its charge cycles and reduce its lifetime. I want to charge it only when it is discharged.
After charging, if we turn off Bluetooth on iPad by mistake, there is NO way to re-pair the Pencil with iPad again even if we turn Bluetooth back on unless we dock it in charging mode which means we recharge the Pencil (even if it is fully charged already) or stand to lose whatever charge is in the Pencil by waiting it to discharge over a couple of days until next recharge.
STYLUS
Rubber tips may leave smudges and require periodic replacement of tips. Nylon tips glide over the glass with no smudges and do not need to be replaced for years. Wacom styluses have 25% smaller tips compared to competing products.

Whats the deal with these clear disc style pens ?
I have both Apple Pencil 1 and Bamboo Stylus rubber tip. I use one or another depending if I'm drawing /writing (Apple) or anything else (Bamboo). iPad Pro 10,5" 2017 so the Logitech is not an option to me.
Quite happy with Apple pencil. A bit expensive, but what do you expect from Cuppertino stuff.
Most likely it's for a more precise contact-point which can be helpful when there's plenty of small items on screen as a wider tip may touch multiple items at once.
