Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
*Best App of the Year 2019*
I thought, without too much originality, that even the AB Forum should hold a competition for the 2019 Best App, as all the specialized sites do at this time of the year.
You can vote for one or all of these categories:
1 Best instrument;
2 Best effect;
3 Best update;
4 Best value for money;
5 Most innovative app;
let's begin...
Comments
poll maybe?
Yep, but which apps participate in the poll?
You got me there 😆
And 5 days later came Drambo... Maybe just to early for this kind of lists, still nearly a month to go
1) Sugar Bytes Factory
2) TB Morphit
3) NS2 Universal
4) Everything by ToneBoosters
5) Not sure
Special mention should go to Electribe Wave going AUv3
Does it have to be apps released this year?
Your choice, no rules in this regard.
Just a note:
the goal is, or should be, the nomination of 5 apps that will participate in the poll which was rightly suggested by @[Deleted User]
So please, avoid voting generically for a dev but only for a specific app.
In this way, each winning app in its category will compete for the coveted final prize, which I don't know what it is. 🤓
In year 6 I guess now of iOS music making, and despite major entries from Fab and Eventide and the solidification of AU, as well as the well-regarded indie developers plugging away, this was the most uninspiring year for me.
1 Geoshred
2 Discord4
3 iDensity
4 ToneBoosters Reverb
5 Spacecraft
Free isn’t disqualified at all, on the contrary.
I thought it might be since it’s like dividing by zero value/price wise
1 Pure Acid
2 Bandit
3 Effectrix
4 miRack
5 Geoshred
Well then, I'll change number 4 to ToneBoosters Reverb
1 Factory
2 Eventide Blackhole
3 Sparkle
4 Jax Collection
5 Mirack (of course) but special mention for Visual Mixer
1 Best instrument: Sugarbytes Aparillo.
Sounds great, looks great, tons of options. Love the orbiter, feels like a hybrid of Animoog and PPG WaveMapper.
2 Best effect: Eventide UltraTap.
It would be Eventides all the way down if I was giving out multiple awards.
3 Best update: Ampify/Novation Groovebox
Midi Export to Ableton, yum yum. LaunchKey Mini 3 integration is very smooth and somehow it's gained a piano roll that's usable, on a touchscreen.
4 Best value for money: Audiokit stuff.
The free and paid stuff that helps keep stuff free. Respect to all involved!
5 Most innovative app: Fractal Beats.
See AppStore page, there's more than a few reasons!
All categories : MiRack (by far)
Oops, I would never have attempted this if I'd noticed these words!
Took quite a while to decide my picks from this years stuff.
Too much great stuff this year!
All midi AU like StepBud, Mozaic, cykle and pagefall apps.
All major FX like Eventide, Toneboosters, and Fabfilter.
And miRack.
But the year isn’t over.. There are still Jazz Drummer, Drambo, and other apps to drop..😂
Funny ... i'd like to nominate Grooverider by @jimpavloff as it's the app of 2019 that spoke to me the most. But, yeah it didn't come out this year, so I'll nominate Pure Acid as I'm positive that it'll fall into that same realm of continuous use by me eventually.
I'd also nominate LaGrange and if I could get more time with it right now, ShockWave (such a glorious sound).
Had a hard time with instruments...I’m not a synth hound...
You can always update your post if other apps drop out and you change your mind. We have a month to do it.
