Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

What are you working on?

hell o! New to the forum so I wanted to see what everyone is working on.

I enjoy watching vids of iPad noise makings, please share if you have a channel.

Making art? Working on a new album? Video editing? Started a new project? Etc...

I have several things going but I want to see what’s going on in the forum!

  • I've got several projects on the go.
Currently preparing for a new Saturday night
that I'm going to be performing at and hosting.
Sorted out the band line up this weekend, very happy.

Other than that mainly on here for iOS apps and Audiobus stuff.
    It's an amazing resource.

  • @Gravitas - very cool! Are you DJing or doing something else? Yes, this place has been very helpful for me. Especially the Black Friday sales ;)

Working on a new MC-707 live set today, and I just released a new soundbank with 100 patches for the OB-6 synth. Hopefully if I get some time later today I can dive a little deeper into NS2 which I just got as well.

  • @Tarekith - what style/genre is mc-707?

  • @iOSTRAKON

    No, I'm a multi-instrumentalist.
I shall be using some of the iOS apps that I have.
We shall be improvising, a lot.

  • Very cool, tear the stage apart!

  • Working on learning ....
    1) grooverider
    2) NanoStudio 2
    3) Korg Gadget
    4) Pure Acid

... by writing music that pleases me. :)

You mean the box itself? Anything you want it to be I guess, there's a ton of sounds in there and most of them arent synths ;) If you mean what style am I working on, I don't know what to call it. Trippy tech house maybe? No idea.

  • Haha, sorry for my ignorance. Thought the mc-707 was a project/band name for a minute. That sounds epic!

  • I can’t discuss works in progress, so I can only share what I have workED on (past tense).

I also struggle with labels, genres, and boundaries. Best general rubric I’ve come up with is “progressive eclectronic,” because every project is different. My two most recent releases are in the “8-bit” style.

  • Mysterious! Very cool, will check out your earlier projects tonight. I’ve worked with labels and currently on a good one. However, hard to find a trustworthy label. Genres? Yeah, I’m the same to a degree. I stick to the industrial sound and try to blend others into it.

Good luck with your works in progress

  • Last iOS involved thing I can share is we just finished a video.

Most of the percussion here is from the various Ruismaker drum apps. It also has samples made from field recordings edited in TwistedWave and Audiobus. Fieldscaper was used for the rolling block sound. Originally was constructed in MIDI in Modstep. Though I have moved more into just using iOS to make percussion and drone stuff and assembling and recording midi in Ableton. Just too many technical issues for doing a complete live production set up.

    We will.

    What projects are you working?

  • This is very cool @Multicellular! I’m a 100% iPad noisemaker. The freedom it creates is sacred to me. Love being able to travel or sit outside and create tracks. Keep writing, man!

  • @Gravitas - currently working on the 2nd Krate release. We have a few songs “done” and sent to friends for them to add to and more in the works. The first release had about a dozen guest artists. Turned out great

  • @Gravitas - oh, also started a YouTube channel that’s just me messing around on the iPad

  • Just recently finished and released this:

Since then I’ve been playing with bringing my stems into Blocs wave, creating loops and one hits, then playing them in Launchpad. It’s really fun!

    Nice thread.
    Really great shares, all.
Welcome to the forum, @iOSTRAKON .
    🤙🏻

  • @iOSTRAKON

    Sounds good.

Reminds me of Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor.
I also have a youtube where I'm sharing some of my creations.
From politics to jamming using Quantiloop.
I also have gone fully iOS.
I may get a laptop in the future but
I most probably will get another iPad first.

    Nice to meet you.

Yes that is a sweet thing about it to be sure. But as someone who is mainly a singer and multi instrumentalist, can’t really make whole tracks in the tablet. :)

Still, I sketch out songs in Gadget or Modstep and do sound design and it really ups my productivity.

  • Ah! Very cool track, reminds me of older Velvet Acid Christ. Dark trance style. Keep this going!

  • Thanks @Gravitas, nice to meet you as well. NIN is definitely an influence of mine. Skinny Puppy is probably my biggest influence but seeing NIN in 1994 was a life changing experience for sure.

Share your YouTube channel here please, I’d like to check it out. Take care

Welcome to the forum @iOSTRAKON

Since you asked, here is what I am usually working on (dividing my time between these, family and amateur dramatics!...Oh and my day job!)

Solo IOS based projects under the name A Multitude of One (many different genres) :
    https://amultitudeofone.bandcamp.com/

Collaborations with a host of different people but particularly Doug Woods ( @thesoundtestroom ) whose Youtube channel is a must for anyone who makes iOS based music - for app reviews, tutorials and play throughs. Mainly iOS based Prog Rock with real guitars but also several other genres:
    https://www.youtube.com/user/thesoundtestroom

    https://dougwoodsandcolinpowell.bandcamp.com/

Also collaborating with German composer Oliver Papke - mainly orchestral, New Age, Soundtrack, with real guitar:
    https://oliverpapkeandcolinpowell.bandcamp.com/

More recently, I started uploading ukulele covers to my Youtube channel (usually recorded into my iPad and Cubasis and videos edited in Lumafusion) : here is my latest:

  • I’ve definitely heard of you and Doug. Doug has helped and influenced me in many ways. I proudly support him on Patreon. You’re a busy man, going to dig through your sounds today. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I like the Foglings track a lot B) , but it seems to reflect some (kind of) disruption between direct performance (vocal, instrument) and using a performance device... which is a very special challenge on it's own.
Only a minor flaw, though, and probably momentary anyway, but it's also the tiny obstacle that blocks the attribute 'perfect'.
(myself suffering from manual versus machine metrics often)
But the track is great and I'm a fan of non-pretending, melodic guitar solo lines. :+1:

  • A lot! of noise is a good thing ;)
Just watched Jakob’s new video a minute ago. That Shockwave synth is very tempting
