Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Do any Modley users who are familiar with the Electroharmonix Freeze and Superego effects pedals, (hardware effects that can freeze chords for a pad-like effect, rather than a repeating delay loop) know if Modley can perform a similar function? The demos of the freeze function seem to be short delay loops with a rhythmic delay rather than a sustained effect?

I’ll check on this, I love my freeze pedal

So, what it looks like is the length of the freeze is dependant on the length of the delay. It is possible to get some short repeating clips, but it doesn’t function in the same way as a Freeze pedal. I find the sound Modley creates to be similar as to taking any arbitrary loop and slowly reducing the loop size until it is a buzz.

  • Is this like Strymon timeline ;)

  • this is one of best AUv3 plugins this year... amazing...

  • Seems like I can only safely use one instance on my 10.5 pro. Lots of crashes loading projects.

That sounds strange — I’ve been running Modley and Model D together on my Air2 or Mini4 along with half a dosen other lighter effect and generator apps (at 256) and it feels like I still have a little headroom left. I would have expected any Pro to handle a lot more than that with ease.

I think it is the individual AU memory cap that they mention in the app description and not overalll CPU use. They claim 2-3 instances but I only safely get 1.

Ah makes sense. Yeah I didn’t find the app nearly as heavy as it was made out to be — seems like that specific case that is bottlenecking things.

  • Hope this update comes to iOS soon

it's already available for the iPad...
    https://apps.apple.com/app/id1465573187
(But you'll have to scroll the UI vertically to access all the lanes).

  • @Samu I think @iOSTRAKON is referring to the new things in 1.1, which hasn't been released for iOS yet

Wow KlevGR doesn’t have a big track record in doing any updates at all... new features? Would be cool.

iOS is on the way. Let’s blame Apple for that

Hahaha! :)))) I saw there was actually a Shallow water patch for Drambo, but I dunno, It terrifies me, plus it seems a bit overkill to use as an effects unit?

    is there? i didn't know.
i just wanted to make the usual drambo joke;)
but besides that, i'm really sure you could do this in drambo:)

it seems you don't have drambo yet?
it's absolutely not overkill as an effects unit.

the modley app seems interesting as well...

i guess you're into experimental and stuff?
