Mac online I couldn't find much except long work arounds.

I think this started with Mojave install. I think. I don't remember it before then.

Any suggestions on is this is a setting thing I am missing or something.

    Can you give more details?

    What happens if you try to open the sound file in the finder?

    Does the received file have the same size as the original?

    What is the file extension?
