Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

"App Regrets" on Credit Card Tuesday (the Post Cyber Monday Blues in Bb)

What Apps did you buy but now regret. For me it's these 3:

LaPlace Synth - meh sounds I can get elsewhere and better
Senode - only MIDI out
shoom - no MIDI for Notes. Just CC's. However it is stunning and I'll think of it when I want to sneak some "dread" into an ambient track with sinister intent

How about you? Did a first impression disappoint you?

OT: My favorite delight still has to be Animoog. I just love that retro Moog sound for leads especially with that hint of portmento.

The only regrets I have were being too slow to grab Samplist and Kronecker when they were on sale - but everything I did get I'm well chuffed with. Best buy was ApeMatrix.

  • I regret nothing.

Me too frankly... I'm just dreading the "reckoning" for how much I spent to save about as much. I'm good for a year I think. I'll have to take an oath.

    "Hi, I'm Dave and I'm an App-o-holic."
    "Hi, Dave."
    "Today is Day one."

  • I got fluXpad on a whim.
Not sure about it, but I don’t regret it, yet.
Might end up being fun, after some use.
It is just a little, I don’t know....
    Different?

  • After “credit card Tuesday” comes “White Wednesday” that’s when all the prices get jacked up and inflated until Christmas time

No regrets here either. Biggest surprise - Magellan. What a cracker of a synth that one is. And for .99 cents. Glad I bought Kaspar for full price otherwise I'd feel super guilty.

  • i missed Rozeta sequencer at 50%

  • How can you regret Shoom ! This is one of the finest piece of soft I have on my ipad...

The good news, Rozeta is not expensive
and you can support one of our most respected developer with a little bit more money... 😎

Think positive, buy Rozeta now! 😊👍

  • I’m not sure about Quanta but at $2 it’s hard to have any regrets. I need to spend time with it but the presets were really bad to me. Probably need to just load my own samples, but I’ve been extra busy.

No regrets. Didn't purchase any apps, because I lack nothing. :) Most of my work is in Gadget and Auria.

However, I did go in on one Black Friday deal from Juul. Subscribe to their autoship program, get a free limited edition maroon-coloured device.

3-month commitment, but no regrets. ;)

I'm upset about the developer not delivering MIDI IN Notes but just CC's... how do you use it? Just the iPad screen?

  • Quanta. Nothing wrong with the app, just not my kind of thing. Just like some other granulars sleeping soundly in the cloud.

Yes. I think that the touch screen experience is perfect for the kind of noise this app is producing. I have dozen of other apps with midi in and out and I am more than happy to have a “specialised” one that is maybe not doing everything but what it does, it does it well...

Rozeta exposed a whole new approach to generative music for me. The fact that it's right there on the AUM FX and Instrument lists made me investigate and one-by-one I learned what they could bring to the party. Sending chords from NaviChord into Arp and on to 1 or more synths is great. Then I bought RuisMaker Noir and started to drive that with XOX. And so it goes with LFO's still there to be investigate. Collider (Random-ness), Cells (Step Sequenced Patterns, Bassline have all been put to good use.

Once the door opened for this style of creating ambient and rhythmic patterns I got the idea and have moved into additional generative tools: Riffer, Polyhymnia, Senode, etc.

But for a simple workflow nothing beats these Rozeta Suite AUv3 tools to get something started. Then to feel like there's me in the results I improvise over the top of the mix and it just feels like making a custom band and sitting in.

I guess you're right. MIDI Notes just wouldn't capture the sliding sounds this app can make using multiple touch points. It's definitely unique that "shoom" engine. I think I paid $2... but I would like to see the developer follow-through on the promise add MIDi Notes as an update.

TC-11 has some similar characteristics with a total iPad screen approach to synthesis. I'm loving it too and grabbed TC-Data to send MIDI to other apps using a similar touch screen approach. Both were $6 each on sale.

Purchased just Rozeta and RouteMIDI (to yank out old projects from the dinosaur GB )

Returned Midiflow before buyer's remorse kicked in as RouteMIDI met the needs.

To be honest, all I bought was the two new IAPs for Electribe Wave. And a hat, but that wasn’t in the Black Friday sale, it was just an ordinary Saturday afternoon, in Marks & Spencers in Westfield Centre in Stratford. £25, a nice hat, in navy.

Yes but you actually produce "Products" and thus have little time to waste trying new shoes. Those that can finish accept constraints as useful. The rest of us assume more options will mean we might finish something. That has never been true.

I also got KEW and figured 130 Wavetables would be better than 70 so I got the IAP's too.

@Lady_App_titude advises: Make at least one track with anything you buy on Black Friday. A mea culpa and penance for our sins of gluttony, greed and covetousness. It will take me many weeks to do the penance.

When does NS2 drop? Drumbo? Reason Complete? Ableton IOS?
    Logic IOS?

This one is too good to be true. You made that up, right?

  • No regrets. This year's best purchases:

    • Ravenscroft, sound so good I almost instantly erased CMT Grand, iGrand and considering getting rid of Module's Ivory
    • Apematrix, still prefers AUM but why did I wait so long?
    • TC data, this thing has been put in the Appstore by an advanced alien civilization to enlighten humankind (at least I speak for myself)
