Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Digital/Analog/DAC question about connecting iPhone to a USB interface inputs

edited September 2018 in Other

I have a Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen connected to my Windows PC. I've tried and failed with Studiomux (I know it works great for some, but that's not me despite everything I've tried on and off for well over a year) and am toying with the idea of just a direct connection. Of course Apple makes that hard. While I'd prefer to keep everything digital, I'm wondering if there's any audible difference between the 2 paths of joyous cablehood:

1) All-digital: iPhone -> Apple CCK USB3 -> USB Behringer UCA222 (had this from years ago - it's 16bit/48khz) -> Monoprice TOSLINK to SPDIF converter -> Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen SPDIF in

OR

2) The back and forth: iPhone -> Apple lightning headphone adapter DAC 24bit/48khz analog out -> shielded 3.5" to stereo TRS -> Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen Line In L/R 24/192 DAC back to digital through the USB port into my PC

Certainly just buying a cable for #2 is cheaper. And I suspect I'd never notice a difference, but was curious what the good people of the Audiobus forums that may have more experience with this kind of connection stuffs thought about it. Thanks!
