Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Is this the best and most visited forum for mobile musicians?

It seems that this is more active than other places I've looked....can anyone give me any other resources I must have to add to my list? BTW, where is the best place to find people to collaborate with for a song or two , on the mobile platform?
Thanks for putting up with my newbie ways. I do google everything first, but these days, the mountain of crap, that stands between me and the truth, has grown quite large and sometimes referrals are just better than searching for hours...so I'm NOT lazy!!

That’s the first came to my mind...

  • Yes

I'll collaborate with you if you're good, just send me stems and I'll do guitar or keys. Shortage of bandmates these days, so I've got the time.

Heh. U mite want to check out his video on here before stepping up for any guitar work. πŸ˜‰

Of course I could outplay him with three fingers taped together on each hand, but not many other people could. :p

  • You are correct!

The AudioBus forum is by far the best online forum, ever.

As far as other massive ones, the iPad Musician FB group has around 10k members:

Yes, this is IT - for mobile musicians!!

    MobileMusic

  • I asked the same question on Aug 1 and someone suggested this list which is pretty good:

    https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/

A few of the better apps have user forums like BeatMaker and Auria Pro. But they just don't have the daily interest this one keeps providing.

You are too kind. While I don't need anyone to play guitar for me....I enjoy collaborating with other guitarists and song writers. I've played with a lot of guitarist...and learned a lot, no matter how long they have been playing.

What I do with music is extreme to many people, but I was not a natural. What I am is obsessed. This obsession has led me to put so many hours in year after year, that even someone who was clumsy and a slow learner, after awhile can overcome their weaknesses and excel. I'm not the best or fastest guitarist around, but I have found that to be able to play some of the stuff I can, simply takes such a long term investment, that not many people have the luxury to put in that kind of time. Secondly, I'm like a mechanic with a huge garage full of tools, but the truth is most of what I do, almost anyone can do and I mostly use about 5 tools. If I play a tasty slow solo, which is a different skill, but one far more easily obtained than speed, I catch more listeners ears.

So most of the time, I save musical acrobatics for the select few that are as obsessed as I am. I fully realize most of the world doesn't appreciate it or care, but it is fun to surprise people. They don't expect it and that is fun, for sure. So in the veign, here is a 20 second improv of me playing a very fast solo, with no pick and two handed tapping, I did 4 years ago. I can play circles around that guy now.....but.....I'm not important and I know nobody really cares. What I do have, is a lot of insight if anyone wants to learn how to do stuff like this and a willingness to share. So far not many have taken me up on it...and many people won't jam with me, because they believe I'm going to piss all over their music and show off. I have my outlets for that though, so I can play simple chords on a song if that's all it needs. I've rarely made any videos showing off, because I simply don't like to play just to show off. That has cost me dearly, as I could have probably had a decent youtube following by now. So I'm starting to show off what I can do now, and on a more regular basis, because I don't want to to start working at McDonalds at 50....lol

Again, if you search for me...I'm all over the net and online music stores, you'll find plenty of stuff I've done that is also dance oriented or slow and not difficult. My most insane project though....I am currently trying to finish, but the writing and playing is done. It's a progressive metal band with an amazing vocalist...if you are into operatic singers. I did it all on an 8 string guitar and it's going to be a bitch to relearn live....lol.

most of the time I'm here though, on Audiobus, I'm going to promote the non metal stuff I do, and mostly post stuff that has some sort of electronic element to it and a large influence of dance music. I know this is not a metal or guitar forum. I also know this isn't the normal spot to post such stuff...

I wasn't actually planning on posting here in the post, (I know there's another area, but I want to post strictly ios stuff there.....also...I'm an open book and trying to establish a presence, so I guess it behooves me to let ya'all know what I'm all about so you can choose whether to listen or decide I'm not your cup of tea. I'm prepared for either one.

I very much appreciate the kind words...but ultimately, I'm trying to make music my career. I used to do a lot of self promotion and got weary of it and stopped for 15 years. I shouldn't have.

I would so rather have a manager and just make music, but I also love people and interacting with them and most people get right away that in spite of the skills I've earned over a long time, that I'm a humble and helpful sort of guy...but when you self promote and go"look at me!" it's real easy for people to thing you are ego driven. I'm driven by a love for music and people and staying alive.....like the bee gees! The only thing ego has ever been useful for, is navigating the roaring rapids of stage fright, so I blow up my ego like a raft, but deflate it the minute I get off stage...it's just a tool to get a scary job done. I don't get stage fright anymore, so I don't have to bust out that raft anymore either.

I've found the path of least resistance in life, is to simply try to be a good, kind and compassionate human being. That's not from religion...that's from life kicking my ass any time I slip up and lose sight of that! Thanks for listening and watching! I'll be putting up more tutorials soon.

  • Good having you here, Marc. I remember being awestruck by people like Charlie Parker for the fast playing. My teacher, Connie Crothers, had me learn his solos, but they were too fast! She suggested I find a turntable with 16 rpm (1975) and slow it all down. So I did and then I could, but what I also heard was that Bird was present on every note. No slurring or missteps. True moment to moment feeling. I slowed down many so called "greats" but few had that unique ability of high speed consciousness.

Your playing was great, but the girl who followed with the giant snake was awesome!
