Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
Any app that detects midi chord input?
Is there any iOS app that identifies what chord you are playing through midi input? I'm not a keyboard player so I often just throw my hands anywhere to see if it makes a good chord. I know theory but that's too slow.
Comments
Navichord does this, I believe.
Apple’s free Music Memos app can detect tempo, signature and chords but you have to record the song into the app first in order for it to analyze that data and display the info.
Symphony Pro 5 does. It's great for making up charts for other audio musicians.
You can try my app, KeyBud for that one. If you connect a MIDI keyboard and play chords, it will tell you which chord(s) you are playing. It's available for iOS, Mac and Apple TV.

Will it show 11th and 13th chord voicings?
It already shows some 9/11/13 extended chords. But I'd like to make a major update for KeyBud that you can see scales/chords in a more powerful interface.
sounds good!
Please do! I will buy it instantly.
Great
peep out dreamfoot, it plays chords for you , you pick the chords and then press a single pad and it plays em thru midi,..its rad
Oh.
That one looks interesting. Never heard of it.
It's Dream Foot, if others search it:

Added it to my wishlist, as it's a bit too costly to just buy it on the fly.
@cem_olcay : I’ll but it too. Yamaha has “Chord track” that can do it w audio
How do you connect midi keyboard to Apple TV? Bluetooth?
Yup, MIDI input does not work for Apple TV but it super nice to see scales and chords in a big screen.
I have a guitar version of this one as well, called FretBud, you can use it on Apple TV too.

Today I discovered this app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/midi-chords-display/id1187059688
EDIT: I have just cancelled the purchase. This app is unreliable. Sometimes the app displays no chords, sometimes the wrong chords. MIDI connection (USB and Bluetooth) is working. I contacted the developer because this app is exactly what I need.
Any other solutions to show chord names played by MIDI keyboard? I tried KeyBud too, but without any success.

@christianrod97 Tonality developer here – let me know if you have any questions or requests for functionality
Also midiliculus
I own a Tonality licence. There is no real time chord display implemented. However, a few weeks ago I contacted the developer @TonalityApp to suggest this feature.
@klangsulfat There definitely is. It’s AUv3. How did you contact me? I don’t remember such an email or form submission.
Sorry, I confused Tonality with Tonaly (formerly known as Ultimate Circle of Fifths).
Anyway, so your app shows in real time the names of the chords I play with a connected MIDI keyboard? If so, I will buy your app immediately
@klangsulfat Ah okay, no worries. I’ve been getting that a lot lately
It does! That’s the screenshot above. It also can do the same thing for scales, display incoming MIDI notes in the Grandstaff, control other synths using chord pads, and a lot of other things. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Already purchased! Works great so far in AUM using it with Bluetooth MIDI (Yamaha MD-BT01 on a Yamaha MODX).
Anyway, the additional chords below the top most (the played) chord are a little bit confusing What do you think about the option to display only the chord name in big letters (w/o key animation)?
@klangsulfat Glad to hear it! You read my mind – it’s the most recent thing I added to my list
One other thing to try is the Grandstaff AU which has this sort of text display across the top (albeit small)
Really liking this for displaying chords, would it be possible to show a history of previous chords.
For example displaying the last 4 chords received, then you could see a 4 chord progression for jamming over.
You may just need to pick one chord option to fit them on screen.
@GrimLucky Yeah I’ve been thinking about ways to do this. Stay tuned!
@GrimLucky @klangsulfat We should probably move to the Tonality thread if you have any more questions or suggestions.
Sound great, will post any other questions in the main thread, thanks.
I'd like it something like that:
Have use this app successfully live with IRIG blueboard .. work likes a charm
Cons
Does not do what the OP requests
No proper state saving
transpose behavior is weird
@TonalityApp is simply incredible at chord and scale detection. :-)
