Sending MIDI sysex messages from the iPad to HW

I want to change the pitch bend range on my Behringer D and the only way is via MIDI sysex messages. How do I do this from the iPad? I have MIDIflow but I can't say I've ever really used it....

  • I have that also but it's another app I've not spent any time with. How would I begin to set something like that up?

  • Can't MidiFlow (standalone) or StreamByter (in MidiFire or as an AUv3) send SysEx messages?

    As users have strayed from hardware Synths developers have neglected SysEx editors. I also recall Lemur having SysEx features:

    Lemur's limitations on SysEx array size is 256 if that's a factor.

  • 1st step is to look up the sysex string in the D's documentation, usually entered as a sequence of hex characters.
    Then make a button in Midi Designer, choose sysex as data type and add that 'string' to it.
    Whenever you press the button, it will send this data to the synth.
    A couple of buttons for different boundaries is easier than to setup a dial and construct the sysex message.
    There may be an (additional) init and final phase, so the synth knows that it's adressed and that transmission is complete, depending on model and editor.
