Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Is anyone else able to upload from their iDevice? Is there a limit to song length or something (trying to upload a 12-minute track to no avail)?

Yeah, yeah I'll go back and read the fine print soon, but would appreciate it if someone can answer this.

O.K. Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated. Just one other question.........is a podcast a different thing then, as some of those are over an hour long? Cheers! Keep up the good work! 😊

    hi there,

Podcast are only for talking podcasts, not music ones. Thus those can be longer.

    Thanks!

    I see. Thank You. 😊

Thanks. Well, I can confirm it's 12, not 15 minutes!

Longest i have posted is 12.03 mins. Tried & failed uploading at 14 mins.
The playlist concept makes soundscape/ambient/drone/experimental stuff a bit of a challenge on this platform. I cut something from 21.33 (!) to 2.45, & one track is only 1.29! Interesting to take a look at it from a new angle for a different format.....

  • It may be a limit on file size. Podcasts probably compress/decompress better than music.

That makes sense. Good Call B)

  • choon seems like it could be alright - I made a profile using the code at the top of thread (thanks! @AndyPlankton )

I've been doing more ambient stuff lately and my soundcloud is now full so this is perfect place to try out a bit of a new style/sound for me. (hence the title of the song) Made using Refaktions app driving some of it''s own sounds, and midi'd out to another synth or two (can't remember what I used) - with a bit of Alchemy (in Garageband) synth sprinkled on top.

  • I also used the link @AndyPlankton provided. Thank you. I am curious how this will play out, as a new concept.

  • Thanks for the queue-jump @AndyPlankton

My internet connection is intermittent at the moment, but I hope to upload some tracks soon

  • Thanks @AndyPlankton! I just added a track that is my usual iOS logic hybrid: https://choon.co/tracks/0vasodi6t62

  • So on the ‘payment’ side, I’m just wondering, in case anyone knows, will 10,000 NOTEs always be worth 1 Ethereum?

Ie have they decided to ‘peg’ their NOTES currency directly to ETH?

Or am I misunderstanding? Is the (fluctuating?) value of NOTES listed somewhere else?

    Hi Matt,

AFAIK there is currently no stated value for NOTES. NOTES are scripted to run on the Ether blockchain, meaning miners get a percentage of Ether to perform (offsite) NOTES transactions. In order for the NOTES to have any value they need to be bought and sold. Choon had previously targeted a NOTES sale @ 5 cents ea. for July 2nd 2018. That sale was canceled 'apparently' to secure additional funding from VCs...

  • Here is the white paper that explains what is currently at play....

I guess it will be interesting to watch and see if that sale takes place.

I must admit to not fully understanding this bit though:

“NOTES are scripted to run on the Ether blockchain, meaning miners get a percentage of Ether to perform (offsite) NOTES transactions.”

So artists are also given a ‘percentage of Ether’ - because they are ‘mining through streaming’?

Is that right? I thought artists only got notes.

Looks like they are selling them but privately. September 1st we will know more.

Thanks. I did actually read a fair bit of it this morning. But will have another look.

My understanding is you earn notes. And then you can sell those ‘notes’ once (if?) a price and a mechanism to sell them has been established.

  • I don’t really care. My tracks are normally worth 0 pence. If the Notes I acrue raise any money at all, it’ll be more than 0 pence. If not, Choon = Soundcloud, but without the ceiling on uploads. If they introduce a subscription fee and my earnings don’t look like they’ll cover it comfortably I’ll close up shop and go elsewhere.

Pretty excited to learn of Gareth Emery's role...am a pretty big fan of his work.

I also signed up and hope to find time to upload some tracks soon...

Exactly this for me too, I was putting stuff on SC and not getting any return, wasn't looking for any though. Then this comes along and I'm like, wait, so I do the same as I do now, but to here instead of SC, and I can get money for it :)

  • I got my song uploaded now: https://choon.co/tracks/0_vnems9dcm/my-robotier

It’s one I’d previosly done but gave a fresh lick of paint in Auria Pro. Please add it to the playlist if there’s still room for more. Thanks

Thanks Andy, that’s much appreciated. Lots of great sounding tracks on the playlist and a lovely variety of styles too.

  • Only just saw the thread, been on their a few weeks, I think I’m on a couple of playlists. Users compiling playlists get a % of streming (artist chooses whatever % they want). It’s an intereting model, there is another similar one Musicoin
I put most recent album. And EP up on Choon
    https://choon.co/albums/0y9x7wy5q2s/algorithmic-soul

    https://choon.co/albums/3a7k5zm94o/very-own-special-day

  • I set my playlist share at 50%. The default of 5% is a bit miserly, IMHO.

    Cheers,
    Paul.
