  • Thanks for the code. I’ve been meaning to check this service out!

  • @AndyPlankton I signed up! How much is a Note worth??

10,000 notes is currently around $280....I'm getting around 10 notes per stream and in 4 weeks have gotten to 9,500 notes :)

  • What concerns me is how the general public will get to hear stuff on it. It seems marketed to musicians more than listeners. Also, can songs be eligible for chart inclusion for, for example, the UK Top 40, and consequently, radio airplay?

Sounds like a good platform for people to make some extra $$ :) Any idea how they’re funding it? Feels in a way like they’re plucking money out of thin air, is there a lot of advertisements or something similar? I’ve totally ignored all crypto stuff, I know very little about it, sketches me out for some reason, but seems like most people have no issue with it and all good?
    Thanks

  • Like when I hit ‘learn more’ it has this text -
    “7,978
    ARTISTS EARNING NOTES
    40.1M
    NOTES EARNED BY ARTISTS
    959.8M
    NOTES REMAINING TO DISTRIBUTE”

What happens after the remaining ‘notes’ have been distributed? I’m not sure I understand the mechanics of how they’re doing this and whether it’ll be long term?

Like when I was a broke student I did the ‘slice the pie’ music review thing for a while when it first started and made decent monthly top up income. But they soon made it way harder to earn feasible money from it. Wondering where the Choon money is coming from and whether it’s going to last? I think these questions are probably tied in to the fact I don’t know what the exclusivity deal is with Choon. Is there one? If so and suddenly the site stops being able to pay, can you then post same material on other sites?

    Thanks

Good questions, I'm just trying to make some hay while the sun is shining and not thinking too much about that stuff, they are serious about what they are doing though so I am sure these are questions they have already asked themselves.
They are pushing hard on social media for attracting users and listeners.

  • Hey,

I'm using it at the moment, so far so good!

I've earned over two thousand notes, I believe it goes that when you reach 10,000 notes you can withdraw them into your krypto bank which equals to 1 Ethereum (at the moment 1 Ethereum is around £300 GBP) - i think this is a good way for all of us to support each other on here.

I'd say post your links to your Choon account, we all have a listen to a few tracks and you earn some Notes! Easy! - heres mine if anyone gets time to have a listen, appreciated! :)

    Thanks!

There is no exclusivity, you are free to leave at any time, you are free to remove your content at any time, you can upload to other platforms at the same time.

I'm certainly no expert but what I have decided so far is that the money comes from the contract (transaction) that you create when you upload a track, this is what has value in the blockchain.

There are a set amount of notes distributed each day, equally between all streams, the more streams on a particular day the less notes each stream is worth so it definitely will get harder to make decent money as the total number of streams increases. Get in early ;)

    Thanks for clarity :)

Seems cool for a little extra cash and i might throw some old stuff I have spare on there and see how it goes, thanks for the code :)

I still have no idea how it’ll be sustainable long term as a better paying alternative to Spotify for artists, seems like the more successful it is the less an artist will get paid? But my lack of understanding is probably just down to my ignorance of all things crypto and block chain ;)

    Thanks

Hey up, thanks for liking the tune :p

Here’s a link to the Choon whitepaper, helps explain a lot https://info.choon.co/public/pdf/choon_white_paper.pdf

    My profile is https://choon.co/artists/spectrl/

The money is coming from investors hoping to get on the 10yr gravy train. The original idea was to sell early shares/tokens to the public but they cancelled cause ‘real money’ wants to take all the shares and doesn’t want to share with the public. So that’s a good sign.
At the min they’re selling the hype to investors of getting in early to the next Apple or a Microsoft platform that in years to come will have a high share price. The good thing is the people behind it are highly rated in the industry (inc crypto) and are actually getting investors.
Buuuutt atm we cant cash out so it’s just Monopoly money. Cash out is meant to start 1st Sept.

If anymore invites are needed let me know, I don’t know if they’re a limited use or not.

  • @Monoboy

You should get a healthy bunch of tokens for today. I listened to all your tracks, some very nice stuff in there. The stand-outs for me are Running Free, Poor Soul and Lonely Cell....good stuff :)

  • I've created an Audiobus playlist on Choon. Anyone who wishes to be added buzz me with your artist and the track you want added and I'll add it.

Anyone I've already put on, if you want a different track added let me know.

Thank you Andy! I signed up using your link and uploaded an old (non-iOS) track at https://choon.co/artists/richardchild/

I've added this very nice track to the playlist :)

  • Cheers Andy, much appreciated. I've enjoyed listening to all your tracks, especially 'Scat A What Now?'... which could be covered to great success by the Mos Eisley cantina house band, I'm sure! :)

WOW :D .. thank you for making a record of the moment ..

  • My pleasure :) It's so rare to ever make the front page on any of these sites, that i thought i better capture it for posterity in case you didn't see it. Looks like the stars are aligning nicely for you on Choon. More power to you! :)

  • Ok. I just spent most of the evening uploading some of my more presentable efforts.
