Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

    AUM responds to MMC commands.
    See Settings/MIDI CTRL and the option Receive MMC - tap to chg to yes.
    Select a midi source (e.g. your input device to the iPad)

    On that device you need to send this series of 6 bytes:

    F0 7F 7F 06 value F7 where value is the function you want to perform

    1 = stop (AUM treats this as pause)
    2 = play
    5 = rewind
    6 = Record start
    7 = Record stop
    9 = pause

    This is also how Quantum controls AUM.

    hope that helps?

    Mind blown! Way too high above my level of expertise that it could be months before the concept reveals itself!!!

    I assume my Korg Electribe is unable to start AUM as it doesn’t have MMC capabilities. Shame it does not just receive midi clock for us hardware noobs

  • It works well the other way around with my Electribe ES-1. I set the ES-1 clock to external and AUM to send midi clock to it. The ES-1 responds like a champ.

    Does it work when Sampling? I want to synchronise Gadget so I can start recording the loop on the 1 so when I press play in AUM it should start the Electribe recording

  • I must say my ES2 controls Gadget and GR-16 pretty damn well I might even stop using the ES2’s on board sounds and just use it as a controller

  • Yes I believe so, but already packed it all away, so I can’t test.

    No worries I will try on the morrow

    Thanks anyway

  • wow, I had no idea. Thanks!

    now how to sync from external hardware? I've been using Midi Link Sync, but I get lots of little hiccups and glitches in the clock (especially noticeable on delays and such).
