USB to MIDI host recommendations - need to connect controller to HW synth
I just ordered my very first hardware synth and while I wait for it (it's on back order) I'm trying to make sure I have all the right stuff so I can make sound when it finally arrives.
It has a USB B input and a MIDI DIN connector. My understanding is that I can't connect my iRig Keys 37 Pro or my Arturia Minilab directly to the HW synth as I need some sort of powered USB to MIDI host in between. I know can I use my iPad, but I'd like something so I can use the synth stand-alone.
C'mon all you Eurorack guys - what do you recommend? Here's what I'd like:
1) Small & portable
2) 1 input/1 output (2 tops)
3) Inexpensive - definitely no more than $100, but $50 is more what I'm thinking

I bought a Behringer Model D. I want to be able to play it with my keyboard controllers (I already know that it the D doesn't have MIDI cc controls). I have an Arturia Minilab, iRig Keys 37 Pro, and a Keith McMillen K-Board. I'm not planning on using it with a computer so I don't need a sound card. I'm mainly going to use it with the iPad, but I'd like to use it stand-alone as well hence the question above.

It’s the first time I saw this and it’s not clear if it works standalone or need a computer... 150€ seems a bargain if yes.

Basically you need an Audio-Interface and a powered (to be safe) USB Hub.
Thats all you need. Well and maybe some kind of mono/stereo cables depending on your out-/inputs.
I am playing my Waldorfs with my AKAI MPK through these components: iPad, Focusrite Scarlett, powered USB Hub, Hardware Synth(s).
This lets you play by hand or use stuff like the Rozetas or SPA Unit and what not via AUM/AB.

Regarding the budget: Search for a used Audio Interface... I am sure you can find one to fit your budget! I did that before.
I already have an audio interface - I've been using my Zoom H4n and that's been working fine. The trick is that I don't want to be required to hook it up to the iPad - I'd like to be able to use it live through my bass amp, but with the controllers I already own.
