Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
Sorting my Apps by type of Synthesis
I would like to sort my Synths by type of synthesis.
I am sure, this is full of mistakes and other problems, but this is my first take,
Originally, I seperated IAA and AU Synths and also non-AudioBus Synths.
Now, I am merging IAA and AU, as this is mostly about the type of synthesis.
I also separate Modular Synths, as their handling is vastly different.

Comments
Merged with upper posting
What did i do wrong?
What should be changed?
And how to classify those:
Tera Synth "modular analog"
Addictive Pro "hybrid"
LayR "..."
KASPAR "..."
If it were me I’d do two categories: synths I know how to program and synths worth learning.
But those look pretty solid to me
I´m mostly a presets man ;-)
But thanks!
That is a lot of synths.
I propose 2 groups:
Special - worth keeping
More of the Same - marked for deletion
Just one question: Why the need to sort them by type of synthesis if you’re mostly a presets man?
I have about 20 synths on my iPad, which I’m trying to cut down to 10 with the aim of improving my productivity and familiarity. Upwards of 70 synth apps would seriously stifle my productivity, auditioning thousands of presets searching for the right one. I find it much more productive to be familiar with a few synths where I can use my knowledge to tweak the sound to my needs.
“Modular” isn’t a synthesis type. It is a description of the physical arrangement of the box.
Infinite needs an own category....
Moved Animoog and nave
Gave Zeeon and mood a "multiple" catagory (there will be Thor too, i think)
And moved Stria
Thanks a bunch!
BTW, there are "Wave Table", "Wave Shaping" and "Wave Folding" Synths - realy 3 different horses?
Or is Wave Shaping and Folding the same?
Now, that´s the point of this list - getting a better overview and finally being able to decide more easily.
Any recommendations from you?
Before, there were not sorted at all - beside nonAB, IAA and AU.
I want to find my way in that jungle ;-)
And this is my first attempt - sorting them better at first.
Uhm
Yes.
They most of the time also offer multiple types of synthesis ...
But modulars are quite different to others.
Will think about how to sort that out, thanks!
I got that term from the App Store description, was just copying it
How would you decribe it´s type of Synthesis?
Also, i am confused about Wave Table, Wave Shaping and Wave Folding terms
That's also a possibility! I do it by country of the developer.
I group them like this :
AU Synths
AU Instruments (sample based)
AU FX
Synths
Instruments
FX
MIDI (midi only apps)
Indeed wavetable would maybe where it fits most but it´s kind of an extended wavetable thing.
I mean it´s from the inventor of wavetable synthesis anyway
Infinite is really outstanding but i think i still need months to really dive in.
I mean i prefer synths which are very good in a special area instead of the "doing it all but just O.K." multi-monsters.
Where i would still like to see more is in next generation physical modeling. But maybe the market is to small for such niche products. Analog emulations seems to sell like hot cakes. But also here is a huge improvement in the latest synths compared to the old ones (which might be just 5 years or less ago).
Isn´t Z3ta+ a wave shaping synth?
I mean like the name says....you can shape your waveforms.
But then there are differences too like some synths let you even draw your waveforms or interpolate between to waveforms and whatever.
Additive synthesis like Alchemy can do is another thing.
You are way beyond me.
I don’t know if I even have a third of the synths you listed.
You have the ones I like, but everybody likes those, so nothing new there.
I think I may need to ask your opinion about all of the ones I don’t have.
Hehe, but I have few experience with them.
I mostly dabble around with MIDI, only using some presets of Synths or even NOT using Synths and instead using what is contained in Cubasis!
So far, I have nothing that would be worth to select and produce good sounds.
Still, I have lots of fun and lots of plans
Please sort these for me...

@Kühl Not sure why you posted that list. I do not assume that you want someone to sort it. And if that's wrong, you should maybe open your own topic.
BTW, I sorted large parts of my list myself and was asking for advice.
You posting seem just unfitting in that context.
Also, I think it was not need to quite that immense list two times.
An edit would be order, thanks.
@tja
Try to delete the apps that don’t fit your workflow to prevent a brain explosion. I think sorting them by synth type only makes it more difficult to help you focus.
My head would totally explode with all the apps Kuhl owning
I don’t know you well enough to say
