Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

  • Working and refining my hybrid setup with the Deluge+OP-1f+Ableton, and so far am enjoying the process and progress:

  • With the Deluge code going open source what are the possibilities of a 1 to 1 ipad emulation I wonder.... ?

  • That's cool they're making it open source. They seem like nice people at Synthstrom.

Someone could probably turn the scrolling pad grid into a software sequencer/isomorphic keyboard app. I used to have a Deluge, my favorite part was performing the track into arranger view. That could be fun on iPad.

The MIDI implementation was weird. I have no idea if those issues have been fixed yet. The effects are fair, they could easily be bettered. Same with the synth engine.

The Deluge UI is crowded and I don't think a 128 pad surface requiring multiple button presses to tweak a synth would be fun on iPad.

A big part of the Deluge experience is how the pads are also the display, but that's not necessary or advantageous on a touch screen. It would require a serious rethink to turn it into an iPad app and then I'm not sure how much Deluge would remain. I hope someone tries it though.

Wow! What a nice xmas surprise, Dendy! I wanted a Deluge soooo badly a few years back. Instead I decided to buy an ipad pro to start exploring music production on IOS. It was the best choice ever made, but still: whenever I see a Deluge light up its many knobs … and during Christmas!!
Hope you enjoy this piece of gear! Congrats

Doesn’t have audio/midi over usb? I’ve always been interested in the Deluge since release and it seems to get better and better every year since. Plus it looks cool.

  • Waiting for mine to come back from the land of Hobbits with its new screen. I’m excited to dig into the new firmware and clip view.
