OT: The Good Music Playlist
I thought everyone might appreciate some fun tunes.This is a giant playlist (200+ and growing) I've been putting together for the past 4 months and playing on the PA at work (the coffee shop at my university) and is an ongoing project. Its just a big collection of awesome songs from the 50's to now, mostly upbeat. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND just hitting the shuffle button like I do, because there isn't supposed to be an order. There's a lot of forgotten gems, plenty of classics and some modern tracks for flavor. I use it and add to it almost every day, so it's kinda just my personal radio station. I'm open to suggestions for good songs. Alright, back to studying for finals!

Nice list. As a fellow music nerd I have done something similar, except that I have mine categorised by decade. There's a fair amount of overlap with yours, but also some differences down to taste - I wouldn't tolerate Phil Collins personally

What would you estimate to be the boundaries of this sort of playlist? For example, what wouldn’t get in?
I bought their album when it came out. I love the track World of Water.
They were very good, I thought at the time. I think (and I think a lot of other people think) they were underrated and unfairly unrepresented in the charts – they never charted highly at all.

Brings back memories of when I bought my MS20, and played in an electronic band. I was buying every synth album I could find, in the Basildon record shops for inspiration and ideas.
Thanks for the interest. Nothing is off limits, just looking for a broad spectrum of good music. Rockabilly, Metal, Nu-wave, pop, classic rock, psychedelic, punk, bossa nova, ska, ... whatever, just quality music really. For an example of what isn't good, I think a lot of modern hiphop and edm aren't very well made (lack of actual musicianship mostly) and too similar to each other, but that doesn't mean there aren't exceptions! I'd like to hit every decade and genre eventually. Currently sitting at 525 songs and definitely not slowing down.

I wanted to add ‘Toytown’ by Jon Hart, but as two other people of the same name are now all over YouTube, I can’t find it. Why would you want to hear this? Because it is as close to Bowie as Ral Donner was to Elvis. Toytown sounds like a lost, early Bowie classic, and is well worth tracking down.
