Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

OT: TiCK-TOCK - Desktop music software Black Friday deals. What have you found?

edited November 2017 in Other

I completed Virtual Guitarist with the new Silk guitar.

I finally broke down and bought Kontact Player.

I also bought a 500GB Samsung T5 Portable SSD as a stop gap until 1TBs come down in price. I'm using this to reclaim all my music storage from my MacBook.

Massive is on sale, but I'm waiting for a Kontakt Ultimate sale some time.

What have you found?

  • Apart from a couple of apps, bugger all. I’d hoped to get a deal on a MIDI keyboard but prices haven’t budged.

  • An MPC4000, a bloody monster.

  • Wave Alchemy Spectrum down from £60 to £18. Need full version of Kontakt, not just the player.

    http://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/spectrum/pid170/

  • What I've grabbed so far was the black rooster total pack for £76, I didn't have any of their plugins and loved that nu vpre 73 pre amp emu, especially the high shelf, also bagged the prime studio charly pre amp, expanded edition for €7.99.

Few good sales I thought were the eventide fission plug for £45, flux studio session pack for £65 and the psp vintage warmer with free e27 eq for around the same, I miss iOS prices.

Tempted by Steinberg Absolute 3 (with Halion 6) 40% off. UVI Falcon is 30% off.

Oh, I'm aware of the thread. I'm interested in what stood out to people.

  • I took advantage of the 50% off sale at Addictive Drums. Picked up Boutique Mallets and its corresponding MIDI. i will probably buy more MIDI, as the packs are only $10.

I have the Solo Flute from Fluffy Audio. For $90 I upgraded to their solo woodwinds collection, so now I have a Fluffy clarinet, oboe, and bassoon. Yay!

    Good one

  • Total bargain on the Wave Tune LT plugin, down from $99 to $29

Wow, even with the Melodyne sale, great price.

I was also looking for some Addictive Drums midi packs and maybe one or two additional bass drums but couldn't decide yet, and I'm also considering 2CAudio's Breeze which also is on sale at the moment

  • Loops de la creme have got a good sale on atm, spend over €36 and use gimme20 to get €20 off, or over €148 and use gimme100 to get €100 euros off. Mainly kontakt instruments and samples, good for percussive stuff and builders/transitions.

Eek! The scary thread! I am still realising/shaking my head at the fact that I actually picked up Omnisphere and it will take about 25 years until I have the time to actualy get to know it.

    Not remotely jealous, no sir.

I got Soundtoys 5 for $180 due to already having two of the “little” plugins. Couldn’t be happier. They sound amazing, also bought Valhalla VintageVerb for $50, not on sale but it’s great value, very high quality. Feeling sorted for effects for a little while, though I will definitely pick up Valhalla Hall at some point.

That's how I got the soundtoys bundle from the little plugs, $180 is an absolute bargain, if you haven't nabbed it already check out these free presets for the effects rack, some really odd and interesting stuff in there.

  • Bought the AIR Hybrid 3 deal for $1. Thousands of presets to explore and only one dollar! Too soon to say much beyond that.

Bought the desktop version of Sensual Sax for $10. Disappointed so far, but I've only tried it for half an hour. Very limited, and more suited for slower music. Basically 3 articulations, Poly, Staccato, and Legato. The Poly is best for natural playing, but quite limited. Impossible to do a trill. Staccato is OK. Legato is where all the bends and stuff come in, but it's got a mind of its own. Limited control. Probably need to give it more time, but seems like a waste of $10 so far.

Also, picked up Waves brand new Bass Slapper for $29. Definitely a learning curve involved, so too soon to comment other than to say that it is strictly Slap and Pull. Doesn't seem to be a way to play an ordinary plucked note, and it's hard to picture a tune that is just totally slap start to finish.

That's it so far, but got my eye on several others.

I wish Spectrasonics would offer Black Friday deals, but their stuff never seems to go on sale, ever.

  • I picked up hybrid 3 and a few other effects. Thinking about the sonivox film score companion for $31.

I got the strings last year for super cheap and they sound nice.

  • Don Bodin of Sample Library Review wrote an interesting piece about his favorites among the many deals.

But I got it and Keyscape 15% off at Musician's Friend, plus 8% off on future purchases.

  • The best way to learn Omnisphere is to watch John "Skippy" Lehmkul's (The Plugin Guru) excellent videos on YouTube. By the way, John has worked for Korg since the days of the M1 (still does) and programmed many of the patches we use on our Korg iOS synths.

This is also a very nice set of free tutorials that give you the basics.

  • The Little One Synth has a excellent sound and is only £19 at the JRR shop.

  • VST Buzz are doing a Dronar Sculpture bundle at half price £49 for a few more hours.
    Good for soundscaping.

    These are great picks.

  • I grabbed the fantastic Dub Machines effect bundle by surreal machines. https://www.surrealmachines.com/product/dub-machines-vstau/

They're also having a sale on their ableton live packs.

  • Plugin Boutique is pretty much the Walmart of plug-ins. There are definitely some good deals to be had there, and a couple have been mentioned here. This bundle is only $6/£4.50. The Soundspot plug-ins aren't the greatest, but this is a dirt cheap way to dip your toes in the water or snag some alternate plug-ins to try.
