Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Viking Synth & Mood

How do these two compare?

Viking Synth is wicked and I ain't going anywhere else soon (had crazy fun playing with Viking's modulations tonight!) but Mood seems comparable and I'd be interested to hear how they measure up. I didn't have the time to work with the beta but I hear good things about it here in passing. What's it got going on?

  • I’m affected by interface...and mood interface particularly in AU form has been a complete de-incentive to open it.

I can agree with this, but it did get an update early on that was very much of an AU UI upgrade. The thing is, it's still not enough for me to use the AU.

That said, I use the IAA all the time. It has poly mode which Viking does not, and it's got a nice modulation section. The IAA beats the pants off Viking from a UI standpoint as well...I don't use Viking because of all the page swapping.

I recommend Mood even if you're happy with Viking just because it has a lot of character in its sound, in a way that not many synths do.
