Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Free, but with IAPs (where, I imagine, is all the fun).

  • First impressions: amazing interface, the most well thought in iOS (seriously). Requires unlocking with a compatible device (which I have) or paying $5 to unlock unlimited recordings. Audio only (that I already new from the description) and not multitrack. Should work fine for the intended niche (field recording) but not much useful for music production.

  • That's a great tool for amateur video, you can use your phone with a lav mic on each person, and assemble the audio later. You could already do that, before, but had to sync everything by hand, and start and stop each phone individually.
