iOS Audio to Mac / Ableton Live Issue

hi, I've discovered a problem when connecting my ipad to Ableton to grab the audio most apps are resulting in unusable audio, weirdly even clipping (showing red) when the gain is turned right down (see attached) I'm having this problem with iMini and iM1, Model 15 (could be others too),but Module and Animoog are fine. Very odd. Any advice appreciated.

    are you using audiobus or aum before sending the audio to ableton ? if not try doing so.
    or reduce the volume in the individual apps. basically you need to reduce the volume of the apps that are clipping. either AUM or Ab3's mixer can help you there if the apps dont have a gain knob inside them.
