Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.Download on the App Store
Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
How Difficult is it to Develop a Musical App?
A very subjective question, I know. But I'm curious. Obviously much of this answer depends on the complexity of the app being dedigned. I imagine it's very complicated, time consuming, etc. Probably requires formal education to some extent with a background in programming.
That being said, I honestly have no idea. I was recently surprised at how simple it was to produce a (very basic) website for a local school in a couple hours using a template. Perhaps there are similar templates for app design that make the process less intimidating than it seems?
For starters, how difficult/time consuming is it to design an extremely simple piano app? Just a piano keyboard that makes basic piano sounds?
Which "add-ons" dramatically increase the difficulty factor? For example, adding a "record" function, adding a metronome, adding additional sound banks, etc.
Is this something that can be learned through an extensive online course or two? Or is this super complicated stuff that takes years to learn? Seems to me the latter.
