Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Audiobus Forum Conflict

It turns out the Audiobus forum can be like the rest of the Internet where people can be easily side tracked into personal attacks/defense of their character and points of view rather than focusing on the topic of discussion. Good luck to the Audiobus team if they choose to moderate these discussions.

The US, UK, Europe, hell, most of the globe is more divisive and splintered than ever. Mass communication is more fluid and abundant than ever. We are in uncharted waters and people who agree and disagree can interact physically and (more often) digitally with ease. Human nature being what it is, conflict is inevitable.

Oh, and people are assholes, me included.

Yep, I've been on message boards for more than 15 years. There's always a fight about something. Usually stick my foot in my mouth several times . At least I have a history of it on other boards. Not so much here I hope. I try to keep my mouth shut and focus on music stuff. I've wanted to say things so many times, but then, this is a very diverse board, and not everyone is a Conservative /Christian like lil ol' me. So party on. :) I love this place.

  • While the forum is indeed like the rest of the places where humanity gathers, to be fair, as a society, it runs very peacefully most of the time. I think that's how most folks prefer it, irrespective of their political or social stripes/affiliations. It is certainly hard not to rise to what feels like bait, but when one senses that folks are getting more from the mosh than the music it's best to engage as little as possible, if at all.

  • I love moshing, well when I was younger. Now I'd just hurt myself. lol

  • I am hugely political in all of my Internet life.

I made the DJB "persona" so I can focus only on music.

  • This too shall pass. At least there haven't been any gorilla sightings lately.

  • Maybe an alternative would be to take discussions which end up revolving around non-music topics to a different thread so that the people who want to focus on music can do so?

  • I love everybody here no matter who they are or where they come from as long as they like beat machines, if it ever gets too much for you just invoke either of these two words and it will make it all go away.

  • I grew up on a "much harsher version" of the internet. There were no safe spaces, there was no censorship. There have been many dicks in the various music forums I've visited. However, despite my complaining about those experiences, if I could go back and avoid those upsetting types of situations, I wouldn't. They helped mold me into the person that I am today.

In a way, this forum has been a sort of "safe space" from regressive leftists, hardnosed rightwingers, Tumblrites, Facebook politics, and other undesirables. However, it seems we've been "infiltrated" by one overly-emotional person who became "oh so offended" and triggered by an innuendo in a certain recently-released high-quality music app.

I think a forum section called "politics" would be an absolutely welcomed addition to this forum. Over there, people can debate until their faces turn blue about Trump, about innuendos in music apps, about serious social issues, etc. Of course, a stickied post should be in the politics section should have guidelines such as acting like adults. Something that's like "no flame wars". It may give the moderators here something extra to do, but there's nothing wrong with calm public discourse.

  • You know what's a better thought? When is kaikoo3 coming?!!?

  • No political discussions. Just Music.

Or this too is a good idea. The idea is just to box up the political discussions somehow so the rest of us can choose to ignore them or not, lol, rather than have these discussions show up in the General section.

  • If you ignore it, it's like it didn't exist.

  • This is a great forum. Quickly moving along topics that interest me, so quickly in fact that a half a day away and i sometimes have serious catching up to do. I don't engage in politics or whatever elsewhere and am not interested in it. You know what i am interested in? ios music apps.
I hope discussions about anything else get shut down and trolls (or assholes, like they used to be called) warned or whatever.

  • whatever makes you guys feel safe is fine with me, I simply find it easy to get along with people, even if I disagree with them.

Better yet, take it to PM like a big boy.

I think the catch all front page format of the AB forum is cool, so no matter what "category" or "sub-forum" a new post is it shows up on the main forum page.

A traditional bbs style forum layout with the multiple categories (say on a guitar forum: Strats, Les Pauls, Pickups, etc) would enable us to have an "off topic" or "Politics/Religion/Arguments" sub forum/thread but that style of board would take away the cool all in nature of this place.

To me it's like the Parent Teacher Council or people who hate South Park...if you don't like what you see turn to something else. Or the mods will do what they do...either way, if you don't want to participate in disagreements...cool, leave the kitchen to another thread.

But, it's still an individual choice we all have the freedom to make. :) I didn't shy away from adding my two cents to the other topic regarding the music app, now did I? I made that choice, because it was too good of an opportunity to pass up replying to. I also replied here, supporting both the idea of creating a monitored politics section AND supporting not doing it at all.

As @vpich said, I'm here to discuss iOS music apps, but ever since Trump won the election, it seems somebody is triggered by something or somebody is trying to censor something that "oh so offends" them or some anti-Trump comment is uttered in a MUSIC discussion. I really don't want to read about politics, but I do acknowledge that it exists. I just prefer to discuss such things elsewhere, not here.

  • Po, is the answer. People get riled. People look to be riled, and to rile. Po your better self away and they too shall pass.

None of the trolls stick around for long. The mannered folk around here overwhelm them with politeness and disinterest every time. Back to KVR and YouTube they shuffle.

Or maybe this is the answer. I dunno.

  • I agree on keeping the politics out of here. I am a hardcore, and I mean HARDCORE communist/socialist that makes these Obama/Hillary Democrats look like George Bush, but im here to talk music and not politics.... lets keep it civil eh?

I may not agree with socialist views 100%, but I absolutely respect your right to those views 100%. :) I also agree with keeping things civil, and consider you a nice person. This is why I've been giving you advice in your "making beautiful stuff in Soundscaper" thread afterall, because no matter our belief sets or backgrounds, we're all here united for one cause - music! This is what brings us all together - music. :)

Next time please refrain from making a meta thread and contact me directly with direct links to comments where people are causing drama. It took some time to figure out what you were talking about. I've contacted some of the people involved and will take further steps if needed.

    Cheers.
