Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Hi all, the web editor works with the web midi browser, so there’s no need for an editor app - but it would be nice to have one.

You got it to work on iOS web browser?

Unfortunately no. The strange thing is that the app “Web MIDI Browser”, which is free and supports web MIDI, recognizes the BopPad. It’s starting page is a MIDI Monitor which shows all events from the BopPad correct.
But when I load the web editor, it says “not connected”

From what I understand, there are no web browsers for iOS that support MIDI via web. This is why the web editor doesn't work on iOS. I am hopeful that they'll do an iOS app as they have for the K-Board.

Speaking of which, my K-Board arrives today!!!! WOOT!!!

It’s because iOS doesn’t support the web - Midi standard. Please sign up on the Keith McMillan forum and ask them to please make an app for us. They seem receptive so if we all speak up I think we can convince them.

I didn’t know this was in stores already. I might just have to say goodbye to 180€. It looks great!

Same here. Never noticed those marks before and still don't see them unless I use my phone flashlight right against it. This thing is a tank--see video of car being driven over it. The only thing I worry about in the BopPad is the micro USB jack. So check that and you should be good.

If you worry about the USB jack just buy a short extension and add it to your existing cable. It will disconnect if you pull at any angle.

Good idea, hadn't thought of that.

So how is it possible, that the MIDI Monitor(http://taktech.org/takm/WebMIDIBrowser/startpage105.html) loaded in the Web Midi Browser app works fine?
Also, if you load the web editor in Safari or Chrome, there is a warning message “Browser does’nt support WebMIDI, which does not occur in the Web Midi Browser.

  • No idea - just what I read on the McMillen website is all. If you can get the web editor working on iOS, by all means let us know!

Yep, exactly. I bought one very similar to this.

You gonna invest in BopPad--this thing really is a blast. It strikes me as right up your alley.

Payday's approaching, HMRC payed. Can see no barriers other than my better half ;)

  • I agree - this thing is a complete blast. It's exactly what I was looking for - a drum controller that has a good feel with sticks, is sensitive to hand drumming, and doesn't have an on-board brain. Hell, it's so good that I ordered the K-Board too!

  • They have said multiple times that an ios boppad app is coming, not sure why it would take so long though...

Yes, but instead it is a real instrument, not a controller. Basically a tuneable tank drum with a pick up. Different beasts altogether I know but appeals a bit more to me. I could of course retrive the diy tank drum knocking about in my back garden and stick a mic in it but having a tuneable one opens up a lot of possibilities (why reason I’d never get a hang drum).

I think this garrahand thing put through some tweakable resonant filters, ring modulators, waveshapers, pitch delays and lfos might just produce some creative sonic outcomes. The fact that it plays unamplified is sweet too. $300 isn’t much as these things go either. Might disguise it as a birthday present for my lady :)

That's a nice price for sure. I was thinking $800
