Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Acoustic instrument libraries/apps for iPad.

Hi, I've been on the hunt for very high quality Acoustic Instrument sounds for iPad. Yes, there are a ton of synth apps, and poor quality emulations (Sampletank/Sound Canvas, etc) I know ram is limited, but there has to be something great, I'm looking for Acoustic Guitar, Acoustic Jazz Bass, Woodwinds, Vibes,. Any suggestions?

Bismark bs-16i app and then import your favorite soundfonts. (There's a great thread on this site about soundfonts, don't have the link right now, sorry)

  • What about Garageband?

Korg Module Ivory IAP for piano,
Luis Martinez' drum apps for easy good sounding drums sequences/loops
Drum Perfect Pro for better sounding drums that are more difficult to operate
    Sessionband apps for programmable progressions
    iSymphonic Orchestra for strings/woodwinds
Thumbjam has pretty nice acoustic jazz bass
Fingerfiddle has realistic sounding solo string instruments but doesn't support MIDI-in, have to play it in their interface.

I'm pretty sure I have everything covered. The iFretless and Sampletank sounds are not too good in my opinion and unusable for sounding professional - a lot of the source files aren't great. Bismark's bs-16i is good if you can find decent soundfonts, but I've spent a lot of time with it and can honestly say it's not quite worth the time, money and effort trying to hunt down the good samples and organize / operate them easily unless you are very willing to spend.

  • Have you looked at Session Band?

  • Musk MIDI Keyboard by Dr. Garbers Softwareentwicklung
    https://appsto.re/gb/TV-KU.i

Will play exs-24 files as will the sampler instrument in Auria

I'm a fan of the bs-16i too. It opens up a whole realm of possibilities for the iPad.

  • bs-16i app then add lots of acoustic sounds available from my site for free.
    https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/
    Hope you enjoy.

  • Don't forget if you have Auria Pro, you can import Soundfonts into Lyra too.

  • Ifretless brass and bass are nice and can get realistic results. fingerfiddle as mentioned above, the included sounds in sampletank are not best but Miroslav in app purchase has nice clarinets, woodwinds and strings. Yonac steel guitar also good

  • Thanks!!!!

    Ps... Need good bass sf2

  • For some odd reason these files will not open in Audioshare no matter what they just load to drive and Dropbox but can't export to Audioshare .

  • My apologies - Safari/ios is not friendly to google drive sf2 soundfont files. You can download the current files with a PC. The best way to install the soundfonts in bs-16i is using the document import feature in iTunes. I'm currently uploading a few of the files to Dropbox and I think these new links will work on iPad if you have Dropbox installed. Should be up and running within 24 hrs I hope.

  • FingerFiddle app is great for strings and does not use samples (22 mb! ). And sounds great!

  • Awesome thanks!!!

  • I like the acoustic bass sounds in the Madrid Gadget. And it's larger, velocity sensitive keyboard makes it one of the best gadgets for playing without an external keyboard.

  • I love some of the iSymphonic woodwind sounds.

Same here, awesome app. But its so expensive that i dont think its worth it if you just want to get some wind sounds. If i remember right, the winds came with some(or spread to few) iap sound packs, so its not just the 25€ that the app itself costs. But the app is totally worth its price if you want some strings and orchestral sounds as well. Besides the string, orchestral or choir sounds, i really dig the tubular bells in it. Also i think for the app to be really worth its price, you need some expansion packs even tho they raise the price quite a bit.

Yep I can just spend hours playing the sounds. I have rarely recorded anything with them, just sit and mellow while playing.

The acoustic bass sounds (and the electric ones) in Madrid are astonishingly good. I am using them so much.
Often I wish that Korg will offer them in a standalone unit for those who do not wish to deal with the complete Gadget experience ( I belonged to those ranks until fairly recently)

  • Dropbox links for the soundfonts are up and running. Hope they are working...let me know if not.

  • Thanks - just downloaded, there sounds to be some great sounds there!

  • Thanks - I'm really happy with a couple of the new Nice-Instrument sounds that I took from Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra (Creative Commons Licensed). They have for example separate soft, hard, overblown flute presets but for some reason didn't think to combine them with velocity switching into the one expressive flute. The violin I think works nicely combined in the same manner. I'm enjoying playing them at least.

  • They're really nice only thing on an iPhone be careful how big of a SF you load or the app will not launch or open up anymore. I had to reinstall it after loading the GM plus stein one on an iPhone 5S.

  • Acoustic guitar( Guitarism) super app lmho @ the front end ----and yes GarageBand has some quality sounds.

Thanks- I've now included recommended device warning for the large Soundfonts. Nice-Instruments has just been updated to include Chamber Strings and Full Strings.

    Thanks for the additions!

  • Garage Band recently added a couple of nice quality drum kits from Logic. I've tried just about every drum app and imo they are the best sounding real drums on ipad right now, next to DrumJam. Music Studio has a huge high quality symphonic set. ThumbJam also has a ton of acoustic instruments that sound great.

  • Just advising there is a new "Giga" SoundFont now available from this site - for free of course.
    https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/
This one is for iPhone 6s or iPad Air 2 minimum.
    Hope you enjoy.
