Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

I think the same developer as for the Modstep sequencer http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/7605/modstep-sequencer-preview

    hi,

midimux just went live on the app store.

    http://midimux.com/

    audiomux will follow very soon.

  • Any plans for Windows support?

  • Plans yes, but it's a little tougher to create virtual midi ports on Windows, therefore we created a Mac Version first. But a Windows Version will follow.

  • Yay- will purchase then.

  • When is Modstep going available?

  • hey Kaikoo, there is no ETA for modstep so far. at present the beta phase runs. cheers, pascal.

  • For those of you interested in using midimux and Auxy with Logic Pro X, I've done a quick video tutorial... more in the next days... http://audionewsroom.net/2015/03/auxy-meets-logic-via-midimux-video-tutorial.html

  • @Kaikoo This might be interesting for you: http://www.modstep.net/beta/ ;). Cheers, Pascal.

    Thank you! I applied it!

  • Anybody know how to sync the midi clock from say loopy to MainStage? That would be awesome.

  • Hi @pascal_kaap

I finally bought midimux a few days a go. Initially I found it great but I'm having some problems. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, I have to restart the app sometimes. It sometimes goes blank white. Some apps like TC-data don't seem to work with it at all most of the time (even when I'm connected to the midi connection on the desktop app), yet TC-data is working fine with Midi LE and when connected via rtp-midi. I'm finding it all a bit confusing and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it. I'm not sure whether it's an Ios 8.3 bug or midimux

Edit: I've tried reinstalling most things but that hasn't helped. I think I am having general Midi problems with iPad to desktop PC generally so maybe it's not Midimux, do you know good troubleshooting steps I should take? Many thanks

  • It works with PC ok. But when I used it(using ASIO4ALL, with FL Studio, or Ableton Live 9)It had no sound out. Needed to update to latest ASIO4ALL. Also, you need iTunes 12, which is made for older PCs with older graphics card...... I think! Not the new iTunes. It's is on the Midimux sight. Remember, you need the Midimux for Windows, then turn it on before, then go into your DAW prefs to activate it. Hope this helps?

  • Oh yes. I forgot. Tho some apps have midi out, they do not give out proper midi. The best midi I found so far is Thumbjam. I've been using Thumbjam to control my VSTi's. Animoog sometimes does, but irrational, for example. You need to experiment with different apps.

Thanks :) yes I've installed everything I should have, iTunes for older video cards and the midimux server and Asio4all drivers etc. I can make it work ok sometimes but it's erratic. sometimes the app can't see my desktop connection and sometimes the server crashes on my desktop....

When it's working and connected using Genome for example through an RTP midi connection I can see the correct midi data is going though to the correct channels when I connect to different virtual instruments on the desktop. But when I use the same patterns in Genome connecting through Midimux to the same virtual instruments the midi data sometimes starts off ok then gets disconnected, or sometimes doesn't all get through all at once and is broken up. This happens using other apps too not just Genome. But the fact that apps work with rtp Midi is strange and suggests something to do with the midimux server connection.

It may be that there is something installed on my desktop computer which is stopping the midimux server from working correctly with some apps....?

EDIT: It's true I can get Thumbjam to work properly. I've also discovered a workaround that most apps which aren't working with their own automatic port in Midimux work through a virtual port setup in the app instead, this works for TC-Data. Genome however doesn't work for me this way though, some channel data not getting through. So progress, but it seems a bit buggy so far, reliability is what I'm looking for ideally. Hopefully a server update could fix this?

  • I think the dev is working on it? As with all updates, bugs, Ect. It's slowly, slowly. When I had trouble, he helped via Audio Bus forum. But, glad it working now for you.

  • I've been waiting for a 10.7 OSX server update on Audiomux for some time. I herd it was coming soon and then...Nada. Pretty much the same with Music IO and their audio over USB. Using a AU/VST plugin to facilitate the audio seems to be the way to go but obviously there seems to be issues in getting it to work stable and without glitches.

  • I know...... Thing is..... The pain in the arse, is that,..... When the devs finally get it working ok(any apps that is)Apple bring out another IOS system(or plug holes to stop Jail breaking)then it's back to problems again. It's frustrating for all of us, & the devs that make us the software. But that life.
